Proper home cooking, I had the chicken bacon leek pie with chips and couldnot fault it. Crispy pastry stuffed with meat and juicy. Served with steamed veg.Had to try the sticky toffee pudding again home made with custard. I almost couldn’t walk out. 4 exceptionally well kept real ales Theakston bitter was the star

Lovely pub, good food and very traditional, function room upstairs which can be hired out too.

A nice pub with good food, drink and friendly staff. I've been to Carlisle many times but first time in there. Will definitely make it a regular destination next time I'm in Carlisle. My mate had the steak pie and it looked really good, which he confirmed.

Never been in before but was travelling down from Scotland and was meeting up with family. I booked over the phone and they were super friendly and helpful. When we arrived we were presently surprised at how lovely it is inside. Everyone was lovely and we settled down and ordered our food. While we were waiting they brought a bowl of water for our dog and some treats. The food came quickly and every one of us loved it, it was delicious. I can honestly say that you really should give this place a try, it's fantastic.

Stumbled across this, and so pleased we did. Good beer, superb bar tender / waiter / owner? / etc who was rushed off his feet but very attentive and friendly. Had the tapas which was first class - had a great evening thanks to this little gem of a place!

Just attended my daughter's baby shower here and had the most wonderful afternoon. Lovely generously filled sandwiches and gorgeous tasty chips for the buffet and the staff going out of their way for us with a vegan meal and a gluten free meal. I would highly recommend the upstairs for small events, it's so quirky and comfortable. The meals I saw people eating on the downstairs tables looked amazing too. I'll definitely be back to sample them. Thank you so much for making our day just how we hoped it would be. Oh and a big thank you to the lovely lad who ran up and down the stairs all day for us 😊

Can heartily recommend ! Pub grub with a difference....just a bit more imaginative than normal pub offerings and real value for money. I absolutely loved my choice from the menu which was the scampi and lemon sole done in tempura batter with hand cut chips and peas...for dessert...the sticky toffee pudding was to die for!! 10 out of 10 for great service from the bar staff who were extremely busy!!!

Fab olde worlde pub. Staff lovely and friendly. Wide selection of drinks and food. Dog and children friendly!

Found this one by Google search. The outside is of a typical pub facade that was the fashion many years ago. Dont be put off by it appearance from the outside because it serves some brilliant meals in what is a tardis once inside. Has a one way system around the inside that works really well for these covid times we live in. Will say the chips were the best that I have tasted for as long as I came remember. Crisp on the outside and lovely soft fluffy inside. Of the meals we had nothing when to waste and there was plenty of it.
