Just got home from the near boot and we have had a great evening, the staff where all so attentive, friendly, chatty and really made such an effort with our son. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. We will definitely be back again. Paula was especially kind and it was very busy. Well done to the whole team they all deserve a thanks.

Excellent little gem. Glad to see it back open! Carvery was beautiful! And good portions of the meat. You can get seconds on the veg but like so many places these days only one time for the meat.

Had a lovely meal at the Near Boot last night - I had 2 starters as a main course - scallops and Thai fishcakes and my wife Julia had the Pork Tenderloin which were both exceptional - all with excellent, friendly service from Paula and her great staff - prices were good and reflect the quality of the food and service - highly recommend 😊

Had a lovely dinner here with friends! I've passed by Carlisle thousands of times on the bypass and never knew this pub existed but we'll definitely be back. Couldn't really fault anything about it 👌🏽

Visiting Houghton Hall Garden Centre with friends and needed somewhere for lunch. Remembered that a friend had recommended the Near Boot a few weeks previously. Phoned ahead and managed to get a table for the seven of us. Drinks were well priced and the menu was varied with lots of choice. We've been disappointed recently when having lunch at pubs we've not been to before - not this time. The food was delicious, the portions large and the service excellent. Absolutely nothing for any of us to fault. Will definitely be back and will recommend to everyone - keep up the good work. Fabulous!

I've always liked the Near Boot - even worked there many years ago. It's been altered a lot since then and even the bowling green has gone. The food was good (all day brekkie) but I felt the service was a bit slow.

Ate here recently, good honest pub grub and nice real ales on draft. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Food is good value for money. Give it a try.
