The Black Lion in Carlisle

First time we've been and we will definitely be back. Lovely comfortable room with a great atmosphere. Menu not huge but plenty for everyone and you know it's freshly cooked. I had halloumi burger and it was really tasty with good halloumi not the cheap stuff! Staff were attentive, welcoming and friendly. My partner s quite particular when we eat out and even he was impressed. Well done lasses keep it up!

Cosy atmosphere, very kind waiters, very nice meal. My colleague arrived later than expected due to unforeseen commitments at work and the chef made his meal even if the kitchen was supposed to close by that time. Thanks

Great meal and atmosphere menu was bad to read

Spur of the moment meal whilst passing,and we weren't dissapointed. Nicely done out and the staff were lovely too. The food was spot on and was as nice as it looked. Averagely priced n'all. I will go again.

We went today, a party of 8 for Sunday lunch. You can have 2 or 3 courses. Plenty of options, i had prawn cocktail to start then roast beef & all the trimmings. For dessert i had dark chocolate brownie. All were lovely. All this for £22.50. A very pleasant atmosphere and attentive staff. Well worth a visit but book as it gets very busy.

This place came highly recommended to us but to be honest we thought the Sunday roast was just okay. We paid about £10 more than it was worth. Had it been more reasonably priced I would have scored it higher.In saying that we ate everything on our plates, nothing was left but the roast potatoes left a bit to be desired, felt they had been cooked much earlier and warmed through too quickly. Recently had our wedding reception here , to say outstanding is an understatement. From the moment we booked it we had fantastic service , the room was amazing the food was fabulous and the staff were very attentive from start to finish. Highly recommend for future events and food. Great value.

Lovely place with modern and clean decor. The staff were really friendly and the food was well worth it and delicious. The atmosphere was really nice. Especially liked the coffee. Definitely would go back.

This is a good place to eat at a reasonable cost. The decor, service and food are all good. Certainly worth considering if you are in the Carlisle area.
