Was an excellent pint of HPA served by a proper landlord. Whom I am sure has served many a good pint in his time.A proper pub in my opinion.

Popped in here for some lunch having seen the menu outside.Pricing is very reasonable. I'd recommend this place based on that alone. The staff were welcoming and friendly and were great with my little one.The food was absolutely perfect, couldn't fault it!The only bad point was that there was no high chairs for younger children which made things interesting 😅!Food is also only served between a select time (which would be helpful if I could remember those hours 😬😂) something like 12- 1.45 but helpfully it could be an hour before 😬😂.Definitley recommend for a drink and lunch!

Takes you back, to the old style pubs of it’s day; unpretentious.Plenty variety of excellently kept ales and lagers on pump. The food is very good, plentiful and well priced.Their meat pie, chips and peas is particularly noteworthy.

Only one real ale available on my visit.Seems to be the ONLY pub left with any covid restrictions, lines taped on the floors, signs saying "masks to be worn" , screens around the bar, and a rude bar person shouting at us where to stand .Overall a very unwelcoming experience with the only plus being that the beer was pretty good. It will be some time before we visit again.

John Cleese fawlty towers type barman, brilliant really not made to feel welcome.Really well kept pint of real ale and spotlessly clean inside with excellent covid measures,I've got to say I loved it.

Traditional old English pub. Very welcoming with a great atmosphere and staff. Many visitors from all over the World in the summer months and some dam good guest ales. The food is good to. One of the very few real pubs left in the City of Carlisle. The regulars are friendly and diverse with a mixture of ages.Very highly recommended.
