What a great place to stay. Spotlessly clean, the fluffiest soft towels we have come across and a delicious vegetarian breakfast. We were made to feel very welcome. The staff were all really friendly. Dog friendly aswell. Would recommend.

This is a great local pub, in the middle of nowhere, which is heaving with customers most of the time. Very popular with the local community and does great food. A small number of rooms are available to stay. These are very well appointed and pleasant. An excellent place to stay if visiting the Cumbrian countryside/ Hadrian's Wall!

We stayed one night here, breaking our journey to Orkney up into three parts (rail strike forced us to drive). We had a super room, really comfy bed, great shower. Everything was perfect. We had dinner at the inn which was very tasty, I had a rib eye steak that was tender, so big I couldn't eat it all. Breakfast was also excellent, well cooked with top quality ingredients. The owner is the chef, & he came to talk to us; all the staff were so friendly & the inn had a lovely atmosphere. We're staying here again on the way back, can recommend it highly.

Wonderful food. Very friendly proprietor.Unfortunately, it's a bit too far out of the way for passing trade, so it isn't worth him opening on weekday lunchtimes, and the pandemic has forced a reduced choice of real ales, but it's still well worth a special trip out if you're within about 20 miles. You'll enjoy the drive as well, the countryside is beautiful.

Had an absolutely fantastic meal here. The chef went out of his way to feed us after we arrived late, bit still produced a superb meal - the pork belly was *chef's-kiss - the best I've ever had! Lovely place - lovely people. Highly recommended!

We found this place by pure chance. But, if I'm ever neat here again I'll come back. My friends hat pork belly and ox cheek, I had a fish and chips. Everything was amazing. Delicious. Chef and owner Stephen came out and told us about where the pork came from. We were super happy. 5 stars every time.

A very traditional pub, which offers excellent food and drink , and it also has B&B facilities. Beds comfy and plenty of hot water. Steven and his staff are welcoming from the minute you arrive and are very helpful. We spent a lovely evening chatting to them and hearing their life stories. Would recommend this place, especially good if you have a function at Hidden River Barn but would prefer more economic accomodation. Steven is willing to act as a taxi service to and from, so there's no problem with drinking if you are so inclined!

Absolutely worth 6 stars, landlord very friendly and very helpful, as were all of the staff. Breakfast was very good and saw us through the day, Liz, who cooks the breakfast, was incredibly helpful with her local knowledge and ideas for places to visit. The room was very clean with a comfortable bed and beautiful views out off all the windows. Food on the evening was out of this world, good menu with a good selection of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes.Very, out in the sticks, beautiful scenery, brilliant walks and Hadrian's wall close by. Lovely log fire in the bar and great beers to relax with.Well worth a visit.
