loved this friendly pub. Well decorated and great staff. if I lived in Carlisle I would be a regular sadly I live in Bristol so maybe in another life :)

·

Lovely pub with a good selection of local Cumbria breweries supplying the beer. Look at my other reviews and 👍

·

Nice rock music at a low enough volume that you can still hear each other. Nice beer.

·

Just my sort of pub ,no nonsense and certainly not pretentious ,does what it says on the tin , sells good beer and has good banter .

Why change a winning formula? This traditional unpretentious pub served me up an excellent scampi and chips (large portions) and a very fine pint of Esthwaite bitter. The friendly barman soon spotted and swopped my end of barrel pint for a fresh version before any harm was done.Together with meeting and chatting to the ex major of Rochester, I enjoyed a very pleasant couple of hours here. Highly recommended (although I can't promise a meeting with the ex major...)

I've cherished my visits to The Kings Head for 20 years. Simply decorated, with a superb array of Ales. Not sure if it's had a change of Landlord, but the chap serving was somewhat overkeen with providing a head on the beer.Let's hope this is a temporary variation to the norm!

Come here whenever I'm visiting family in Carlisle. A lovely 'proper', unpretentious pub with great beers & friendly staff. Always a nice atmosphere. And the tuna jacket potato was delicious!

·

Great little historic pub, with a nice atmosphere and welcoming and engaging staff. Well kept range of local real ales. A simple lunch menu, yet with well cooked and tasty toasted sandwiches... especially the Cumberland sausage ones!

Found this pub on way back to our coach. Lovely quaint pub. Only stopped for a quick drink, but definitely would go again. Nice atmosphere. Staff very friendly
