The Sally in Carlisle

This is the second time we have stayed at The Sally, just as excellent as we remembered. Fantastic hosting, absolutely spotlessly clean rooms, amazing food and the afternoon tea was beautiful and fresh. Big shout out to Amy and the team who made us feel very welcome and catered to our every need, see you again soon we hope, Val & Glen Morris, Hertfordshire

Well the Sally had amazing decor, sadly the owner was rushed off his feet. We ordered the lamb shank and the rib eye steak 😋 😍 looked amazing until you look closer and see the giant blue bottle🤢🤮😢😭which I very discreetly told the owner about ... he apologised and asked for the meal to be re done. My second portion of lamb shank arrived which again looked delicious 😋 however I couldn't quite get passed the GIANT BLUE BOTTLE ... 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 when we had finished I came to pay hoping for a discount for the fly that graced my plate but NO DISCOUNT, NO FREE MEAL 😢 😞 so although the Sally was well presented and the food was I am sure amazing you only get 1 star for the fly in my food that destroyed my meal. Sorry guys but I review many food places and this wasn't on.

Impressed and delighted about the location, the pub looks stunning ,the staff where exceptional and the food amazing. 5star food on 3 star price. Thanks for made our dinner memorable

Beautiful interior, lovely pub. Dog friendly too in the restaurant area. Excellent home made steak and ale pie. Everything cooked fresh. Vegetables were beautiful. Lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Eden room was fantastic. Evening meal was delicious with Thai red curry and steak and ale pie. Nespresso in the room! Coolest shower and bath. Lighting and plumbing very cool. Shower was amazing after a hard day on the wall path.

Lovely staff. Definitely the most bland mushroom/truffle linguine I have ever tasted, hence knocking 2 stars off because for £15 you do expect a dish to have some flavour. Sticky toffee pud was alright and confirmed I haven’t caught covid and lost my sense of taste, it was just a bad main course!

Second time staying at the Sally when travelling for work - another wonderful experience. Rooms are fab, very well equipped and comfortable. Food is excellent, we were happy with both dinner and breakfast options. Would definitely stay again.

Weekday evening visit as a mothersday treat. The Sally was easy to locate, with parking to the front, side, and rear. There are two EV charging points to the front, too.The premises were very clean, decorated with a washed out beach feel, a mesmerising wood burner, well spaced tables, with outdoor eating to the rear. Toilets were very well maintained and fabulously clean.The staff were welcoming, helpful, and managed dietary needs effortlessly. Couldn't have asked for more.A wide range of foods available on the menu, all reasonably priced. The best meal out we've experienced for a while. I would definitely return and recommend.Thank you all.

We stayed here for 1 night while walking the long distance Hadrian’s Wall path. Excellent and well appointed rooms, very good evening menu and great breakfast. Would thoroughly recommend The Sally as a place to stay while walking the Wall or exploring the local area.

Shocking treatment by this establishment, we were gifted a voucher to eat here for Christmas 2019. We had planned on booking a table in May 2020 for our anniversary but along cam covid. As we are both in our sixties we decided to wait and see what happened when things opened up again. As cases continued to rise we were happy to wait until we felt it was safe to start going out for meals again.We asked if our voucher could be re-validated and were refused. This now means our daughters are now out of pocket to the tune of £50.00, in my book this amounts to fraud/theft, poor attitude by the establishment spoils what could have been an enjoyable meal.
