Happened across the Edgerton arms on a ride out on my motorbike to Macclesfield.Decided to stop off for a bite to eat, so very glad we did.Very friendly staff and excellent food. Service was professional and quick. Short wait on our food, but this was due to a party of 12 ordering moments before we arrived.Warm and friendly environment will 💯% be returning again in the near future.

Called for lunch with friends. It was pie week so I ordered turkey and stilton pie. I was very disappointed with the pie, which was very small and was maybe 5 mouthfulls - so mainly pastry.. As I did not order chips or potatoes, just veg and greens, I ended up cooking more food when I got home. To be fair my friend's pies were a good size and they finished eating about half an hour after me. To add insult to injury, a service charge was added because we were a large party of 13, even though the meals were pre- booked apart from the sides choices - so what was all that about I ended up paying nearly £18 for enough food to feed a domestic cat once.Staff and surroundings were pleasant enough and the beer was good but I was not asked if everything was OK by the stressed guy at check-out or I would have complained, but as I was with friends, who I think were satisfied with their meals, I did not want to make a fuss. Anyway in the grand scheme of things I guess I should be grateful that I am able to socialise at a pub with friends, but maybe the pub should address these points.

Had lunch today with my 86 year old mum and 2 friends. The staff were very helpful and attentive, helping mum as she can't walk far unaided. The food was excellent and so was the service. We were made to feel very welcome. Good choice of delicious cooked food. Will definitely be coming back. Thanks to all of you.

We hadn't been here before but my partner's father chose it as a relatively central point to meet for a significant birthday celebration. It was a great choice!Plenty of parking, lots of space inside (it's a huge building), well attended decor and well maintained, well presented facilities make this a great venue. It has a good mix of quality but aged furniture that engenders a very cosy, country feel despite the very spacious interior. There were not many spare tables when we walked in but it did not feel crowded.I did notice they also had a pool table in it's own little room at the back of the pub. This would normally be a great draw for me, but we were at a family gathering where playing pool was not appropriate! The presence of a pool table however is a big plus point in my books. The bar serves a wide range of beers on tap, and the bar staff were very friendly. The waiting on staff are all quite young but also very friendly and extremely attentive without being "in your face". Dogs are welcome inside and there were many tables seated with canine family members, including our own. We were a party of 8 (including the dog!) and were served promptly and politely. Food was prepared and delivered quickly and all together and all as asked and was all delicious!Portion sizes are very generous - most of the starters would have served as mains in some places and the mains were equally generous. The sweet potato fries were really good... the only person who wasnt 100% happy ordered the Parma ham wrapped chicken breast with molten cheese on dauphinoise potatoes and thought it could have done with a little more sauce. The dauphinoise potato was susprisingly dry. Other than that, we were all very happy. 2 of us had the venison suet pudding which was delicious and filling one had a pizza which was tasty but huge - it had a thin base but it must have been 14" in diameter! The fish pie and the battered cod both went down well and the kids' meal chicken nuggets were quality nuggets made from chunks of chicken breast. We didn't sample desserts as the staff were happy to bring out a birthday cake which we'd baked and brought ourselves. They were happy to load it with sparkler fountains, light them and bring it out at the appropriate time, and provided plates and forks without complaint. We felt very well looked after and will definitely visit again.

Lovely evening last night, genuinely looking for a pub with roaring live fire, and found it here, with a young man attending it on regular intervals with sawdust logs, brilliant. We were impressed with the special fishpie and the fab Pizza really tasty, and nice staff thank you all

Wonderful food and great friendly staff worth a visit

Lovely old pub with roaring open fire. Staff were welcoming and friendly. I was with a group who mainly enjoyed their food. My crispy oriental beef salad was tough to eat and very salty. I had a lime and soda with my salad and had to drink 2 pints of water when I got home, to quench my raging thirst and accompanying headache. When I told the waiter he said he’d tell the chef. I should have sent it back 😩

I went with friends that love live locally and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the great level of service. The waiting staff was friendly and the service was fast. Every step was just right in terms of how long we waited to order drinks, how long it took for drinks to arrive, how long it took to take our order for the meal and the length of time for the meal to be served. It's not often you receive seamless service like this 10/10 to the team there, you can see they've worked hard to achieve this. The food was tasty, I highly recommend the fish and chips. Nice, crispy batter and a good amount of chips. The feedback I had was that the burger was also really good. This pub had a real English country pub vibe. A great fire, cosy lighting, nice decor. The manager was also visible and engaged with customers, which I thought was a nice touch.

Sunday roast was amazing. Decent portion size and friendly staff. I could say more. Highly recommended.
