The food was excellent! Lamb and black was faultless, the other 3 mains on our table were all equally good. Good spread of drinks on offer too! We will return

This was our return visit from around 15 years ago! We really look forward to it, and were not disappointed. We did the Dine & Stay, as a couple. Romantically, we had the same room as our first visit all those years ago,by sheer coincidence. The room was comfortable and a very nice country home feeling to it, as it still has the high ceiling of the original barn building from its very early conversion. The bathroom has been completely renovated and is very spacious with large shower and powerful heating to keep the large room warm in the cold winter (we visited on a cold February night). As we arrived at lunchtime, the Dine & Stay offer can be split over the stay.As such, we had an option from the starter menu - seafood cocktail and a Pate, and added a side of chips and one of salad. This was plenty for lunch.Evening dinner meant we opted for Main and Dessert. We both had pies, and we were very impressed with these. The pastry was perfect and hand made. Food was piping hot and a very substantial plate of food.Dessert was one crumble and custard, and one JD Sundae (I highly recommend this!!!).A good night's sleep and back in for breakfast. To be honest, we were still quite full from dinner last night. However, we obviously opted for the Full English, but didn't manage to finish the whole plate, but it was delicious.Staff are fabulously friendly and very keen to help with any query. They are very attentive, so you don't have to worry about getting their attention or not having a drink quickly enough - they made the stay 100%.Will not leave it so long for our next visit.

We visited for my mum's birthday yesterday, and it was brilliant from the moment we arrived. Clearly clean and looked after, all of the staff we interacted with were lovely and informative and the food was GORGEOUS. Totally recommend!!

Decent selection of ale. Daily specials plus extensive menu. Very friendly efficient service, and pleasant surroundings. Great views from the rear room. Well worth a visit.

Alex and his team looked after us exceptionally well. The food was delicious and plentiful with service, as usual, second to none. The chef even came out to see if my partner wanted something off-menu cooking as she has intolerances. Great location as well for walks. The fixtures and fittings have been updated since we last stayed to a more modern feel whilst still retaining its period features of a cozy country inn. Wide drinks selection as well. Would highly recommend if you want to visit for a meal or overnight stay

Absolutely amazing, was recommended to us by a family member, it didn't disappoint. We did the dine and stay, the food was amazing, room was beautiful, location, staff everything was top class. We will definitely be returning. The t bone steak is amazing!

Myself and my partner took advantage of the fine and stay package for £135 per night. I have to say this is the best money I have ever spent. Beautifully furnished pub and restaurant, amazing staff, who seemed unbelievably happy considering how busy they were, extremely helpful and chatty. The room was lovely with great views over roaming countryside, but the best part for me was the food which was amazing and for 3 courses for 2 people off the menu was staggeringly good value, and that downplays the quality of the food. My T-bone was perfectly cooked and my partner, who's a vegetarian said her pasta was amazing. Cant wait to go back.
