Food was good but the service was very slow despite there not being many people in the restaurant. Took so long between receiving the dessert menu and actually being asked if I wanted anything that I had stopped feeling the slightest bit tempted snd just asked fir the bill.

Starter pil pil prawn was very good . large portion, large prawns, partially shelled to save hassle, lovely chilli oil. Described as coming with bread to dip into oil - only two small pieces but happy to bring me more and didn’t charge extra. Unfortunately massive let down by main course. Ok I only ordered burger and chips but sometimes you fancy something simple and sounded really good from menu…and for £16.50 I expected it to be. Firstly it was literally a burger in a bun and chips - not even a token side salad. There was supposed to be cheddar cheese in the burger - if there was any I couldn’t detect it. Most importantly, the burger was massively overdone and completely dry. Massive disappointment, would not return. Shame as the prawns were good.

Came for fathers day lunch and got a free pint!Not been before but the food was amazing!Only thing I would say is the service isn’t the quickest when collecting plates/next course etcBut we were in no rush so it was all goodCan’t wait to come back!

Lovely food, breakfast and dinner could not fault, the selection of drinks are very good compared others, the staff were friendly and attentive, and lovely period decor throughout restaurant, highly recommend

Absolutely perfect experience. I was with a party of 23, we had our own function room and the staff were brilliant, well organised and always made sure we were happy. Bar staff were also amazing. The food was spot on, I had beef croquettes, steak and ale pie and a brownie with ice cream, the pie was absolutely to die for, well filled and the steak just melted in your mouth.Really highly recommend and looking forward to coming back for date night!

Second time we have visited. Welcoming atmosphere, very friendly and warm staff. Sea bream was cooked perfectly. Very reasonably priced for the standard of cooking. Due to the length of time it took to cook the sea bream, complimentary rustic breads were offered. This was a nice touch.Risotto was lovely, however unfortunately a piece of broken crockery was round in the meal. Staff were quick to rectify by offering complimentary deserts. We didn’t have deserts in the end but were given 30% off the bill instead. Far beyond our expectation.We definitely won’t hesitate in returning; there is much more on the menu we would like to sample.

Excellent staff in these testing times. They were friendly & attentive. The new menu was introduced whilst we were there & the food was plentiful & tasty.
