Had a lovely lunch here today with friends. It's in a lovely spot as it backs onto the canal so we walked along the canal to get there.Lovely inside as lots of seating inside and outside. The staff were very friendly & helpful which was good. They have quite an extensive menu with good choice & varied.I ordered the Sunday lunch and it was delicious, huge portion of everything which I couldn't eat.My husband & friend had the exclusive burger which they really enjoyed as good meat & tasty.Would return as enjoyed it all except the meal waiting time was long.

Visited with my wife and two friends for lunch, (first time) . Found it to be a very clean, warm and with a congenial atmosphere. The staff were very pleasant and helpful with a smile on their faces. Nothing too much trouble.A good variety on the menu. I had chilli con carne, wife had gammon, friends had rib eye steak and lamb shank respectively (with all the trimmings). All very well presented and adequate portions and all very reasonably priced. Set alongside a canal with a terrace, would be a perfect dining experience in summer.Would definitely recommend this establishment.

Lovely afternoon tea sat overlooking the lock. Food being brought to others looked lovely too. Really friendly and welcoming staff and a great renovation since we last came in. Only issue was parking as we had to park quite a way down the road, not sure the number of cars matched the people in the pub but may have been more sat downstairs/ outside we couldn't see if there is seating there.

Perfect overnight stop for boaters, a few mooring rings just above lock 75. We had a recommendation from a local and were very pleased with the food, service and décor. The waitress informed us of Steak & Guinness pies that were also available in addition to the standard menu, which all four of us decided to have. Pies were handmade short crust pastry, full of flavoursome tender beef. Served alongside chunky fried chips, mushy peas (unfortunately tasted like canned) and thyme gravy. Pies were very big for us Southerners, but 3 of us just about managed them, 1 was beaten. Alas we still had to accommodate our sweet tooth with a desert. We had a honeycomb cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding and two bowls of ice cream. All of which was delicious and great to have real vanilla ice cream alongside both deserts.I was also very impressed with the modern interior, navy blue walls, half white tiled with black grouting, bronze fixtures and hanging plants from chandeliers.100% recommended, check out photos on their Facebook page

Popped in without a booking and the manager managed to get us in. Great meal, proper homemade soup as was the garlic bread. Fish pie was excellent and they also serve Timothy Taylor landlord which is very well kept. Staff very efficient and friendly. Highly recommended

Amazing service. The people that served us were so friendly and helpful. I came Sunday 12 Dec 21. So if the manager sees this you had great staff that day :) The bar is very nice. The food was beyond my expectations. I had fish pie and it was the best! Cannot fault this place at all. I came from Manchester visiting a friend. I will definitely return here.

Came here for drinks and catch up with family and in particular my nana. Ended up getting some cheesy nachos with my husband while there which were very tasty. Would highly recommend and especially if you have dogs as they are also a dog friendly pub - my parents brought our dog along to see the family too. Thank you very much for making this possible for us.

Friendly staff good beer and great food. Also has a cafe which opens early, overlooking the canal.

Fabulous restaurant beside the Big Lock on the Trent & Mersey Canal just before Middlewich. We parked our barge just before the lock (our first ever) to tackle in the morning and headed for dinner. We ate on the outside balcony overlooking the lock. Our family of 4 had a sharing nacho platter and olives for starters and 4 mains with two rounds of drinks for £65. On our return visit we had 4 starters, 4 mains and two rounds of drink for £82 (see receipt pic). All the meals were fresh, staff very attentive and location beautiful. Highly recommend and there are plenty of TVs inside for those trying to catch some sporting events. 👍🏻
