Landlord was friendly and knew about his beers and lagers, etc. Nice big fire kept the space warm.We sat down to relax with a half as we were passing. 10 mins in, a guy on the next table stared at my friend and we got a "what are you looking at?"We are two women having high a pint. We're just there to relax rather than get into a row.We left soon after.Life is too short for the hassle from guys like that. Shame. Landlord was nice and helpful.

Been visiting this pub (infrequently) for many years. The decor is 'evolved' traditional country pub. Cosy and welcoming. The locals are in fact part of the furniture. The Landlord - Harry - is a character , with a very dry sense of humour who doesn't suffer fools. On the other hand, he and the regulars are very friendly and he easily remembers what you drink even if you haven't been for months!I can understand it becoming 'members only' during covid as his regulars are the lifeblood of the pub and with their health concerns it woud be best to make it their 'bubble'. Good on him for choosing to safeguard his customers.Unfortunately it may all change as I hear Harry has passed away.

This is a proper oldschool boozer, the couple of pints of Butcombe original I had were kept exceptionally well. The landlord is quite a character and the locals at the bar were really friendly and welcoming. There is a really impressive array of taxidermy in some quite interesting poses, I got a couple of pictures. Well worth a visit if you pass by.

Was staying at caravan park down the road, when driving past seen a Sky Sports sign outside. Looks like a nice little country pub (from the outside)The wife and I decided we would go for a few quiet drinks, once inside we were told it was members only pub, we were told it is "members only" because they know all the members and they don't know us, and we may have brought Covid to the pub.We were so so shocked, we had both been double jabbed? And as if the "members" could not bring Covid to the pub. The attitude of the owner was disgraceful, unprofessionally and unnecessary. We left and went to a better pub down the road. Was very scruffy inside anyway.Do yourselves a favour, give this one a miss and go somewhere else.

Called 40 times between 2 people all morning to find opening times for the England match. - no answerNo website.Arrived at the pub at 13.30 to a closed pub, locals told me it opens at 14.00No opening times on the door. When it opened no guests had to check in as per government guidelines. The very rude barman then told us it was a "members only"We replied they need to put up a sign or something. A female bar person then barked up with abuse.A shame I couldn't rate it 0/5.Don't waste your time like I did... Go the tolmarche arms down the road... Much nicer place

The little man is indeed what the owner is. To be spoken too like S**t just because it said “members only”, even though a Non member who was in the pub also told us to ignore the signs. I would not be giving this bad review if they did not speak to us in such a rude manner. Completely unnecessary and unacceptable! Would not recommend but the pub called tollemache arms only 5 mins down the road is lovely and made us feel very welcome.

It is one of my local pubs. Set in its old tradishion nothing modern in here but cozy friendly and welcoming. If you like the real traditional pub no frills. No children and locals friendley and welcoming. Please if you visit remember this place is not modern it is as it is but i can say it has the best smoking area any where local and welcoming to anyone

We regularly go to the Little Man, Harry the landlord is very friendly and all the regulars greet you when you go in. An old fashioned pub, no loud music so you can hold a conversation.
