Booked for a meal at 7pm on Friday evening, the atmosphere of the pub was lovely, the staff were extremely friendly and the food was delicious. Dogs are more than welcome, with treats and water bowls provided. I had the garlic mushrooms and chicken and pancetta pie which was delicious. I would highly recommend a visit. Thank you to Claire, Emily our amazing waitress and all the team. We can’t wait to visit again

Lovely building, warm and welcoming inside. The food was excellent providing a vegan option for me. Probable one of the tastiest vegan food I've had in a restaurant. Service was friendly and welcoming too. For the quality of food.. value for money

We were served by Lynn she gave a very attentive, caring and personalised service. The food was excellent and a good variety. There was also an extensive range of drinks including 0% varieties.

Dropped in for a meal with the wife and kids on a Saturday evening at 17:45, this was our first proper meal out as a family since the beginning of the pandemic. The food was delicious, hot and served promptly. The service was fantastic, very attentive staff and a lovely warm and welcome atmosphere. A special mention about the apple pie desert, I haven’t had apple pie that good for 20 years. Price was spot on for the service and quality of the food. Would highly recommend 5 stars all round.

Really good lunch here with a group of friends. The lady who attended to us, Lynn, was very patient, helpful and friendly. Meals were all tasty, nicely presented and reasonably priced.

We has not been to the Peacock for a few years since our last terrible visit and so decided to try again. We were given a choice of just 2 tables we could sit at, despite most of them not being used. The staff were very friendly but a little pushy, hardly giving us time to look at the menu. The prices were quite steep but we figured what the heck, so long as it was good and tasty. We both ordered the same starter - the potato and leek soup which arrived quite quickly, It was luke warm and bland and barely filled half of the bowl. We had both ordered the schnitzel with a Hunters Sauce, only to be told later they had run out of schnitzel but the chef could use chicken breast instead. My wife agreed to this but I ordered belly pork instead. Over 20 minutes later, the meals arrived. My wife's chicken breast was the smallest I have seen for a long time, Her 3 times deep fired chips - which we have both had many times before at other places - were more like oven baked chips made from cardboard and they were just about edible. My belly pork was crusty underneath with soft skin on top instead of it being crispy like crackling. Otherwise it was tasty as were the dauphinoise potatoes and the gravy. But the portion sizes of both meals were quite small. especially given they were so expensive. A pint of Stella was ÂŁ4.70, much to my surprise and two glasses of Baileys came to over ÂŁ8. All in all, a very expensive and very unimpressive visit which we will not repeat.

Nice staff, really helpful and couldn’t do enough to help. The food was very poor.A long wait between courses was an issue as this was a family gathering where people had travelled up to four hours to get there.Starters were poor. One scallop. Two small pieces of garlic bread for a fiver. Not enough toast with the paté etcThe steak, although nicely cooked, was stone cold.Gravy- stone cold.Turkey pie - small portion. But the main reason we won’t be returning is that it was such poor value for money.A two course meal which would normally be £15.95 was £21.95. Once you add the compulsory 10% tip, which was over £40 for our group, it just gets disappointing. The portions were too small. At least the staff were excellent!

Me and my wife visit here quite often & have always enjoyed it.We visited last night for a meal and it wasn't a pleasant experience;- We waited easily 10 minutes to be seated.- When ready to order, my wife went up to the bar to order. There was only two other people waiting to be served, and it took around 10 minutes to be served.- We had forgotten to order sides so I approached the bar 5 minutes later and was advised that sides may come out after/before mains. The sides came out easily 20 minutes before the mains in the end. We'd order onion rings and by the time our mains were on the table, they were cold.- We waited around 30 minutes for starters to arrive and probably an additional 20 minutes for mains to arrive. As we'd waited so long for mains to arrive and the sides were early, by the time the mains arrived we weren't hungry. The food itself was lovely, but the waiting times just tainted the entire experience. Tables were left uncleared and not clean. We saw 5 separate groups leave due to slow service. As we were seated by entrance, it wasn't a nice view to constantly see a crowd of people waiting to be served.I will say the woman behind the bar did everything she could, but there should've been at least 2 people behind the bar!Not sure we will be visiting any time soon, which is a shame

An excellent service at my lunch break, staff very attentive, well spoken and fast.

Stayed overnight at the adjacent Premier Inn while on a bike trip. Lovely friendly staff (especially Emily). Starters and mains were ok and the plant pot dessert was very theatrical. We left with a full tummy and slept well...
