First time I've been here and unfortunately couldn't appreciate the whole place as they are currently having refurbishment work done so there were only seats outside. However lovely surroundings with woodland walks all around and the staff very welcoming and lovely cakes!

"The Wizzard" was as a welcome stopping off point on the way back from Hare Hill, and to avoid the centre of Alderley! In our haste to get out we had only breakfast, but our hearty apetites were satisfied with excellent hot homemade sausage rolls, delicious carrot cake with delightful cream vanilla type topping that was my choice. My wife settled for just a cake and herbal tea. Our son wasn't too happy with what he got for the price. It was after all, and in fairness to the proprietors, only a temporary arrangement, food was being served from a little shelter at the rear of the main building. (We had been warned about this by a sign at the front door, which was fair enough and it was well organised). The main large building, that at one time may have been a barn, was undergoing a major refurbishment. We will return to see that when we next pass that way. The car park was pretty full reflecting the popularity of the tea room. We were happy to park free with our National Trust membership. Would I recommend it? certainly! I have to admit slightly pricey but as the saying goes " you get what you pay for!" and it was quality homemade fayre.

They are renovation work. Roof work, I believe. From the front, seems like it's shut. But the watering hole is open along the side. Seating outside. You place an order at the window. Take aways are shouted out for collection. Seated ones are served at the table. Menu is on a blackboard by the window. Could do with an additional menu away from the window so people can make a choice in advance. Staff a bit starchy. You are expected to clear your table. They get very upset if you didn't clear all your serviettes even if wind blows it away. They get quite cross muttering loudly. I wish it was friendlier and welcoming than I perceive it to be. I wish I had the option of somewhere more friendlier I could go to instead. Food and drink were okay. Nothing to write home about.Remember, clear all your mess.

Lovely eccentric mix of cutlery and drinks cups here. Very tasty cakes and a great selection of hot and cold drink. So nice to sit and enjoy the peace after a beautiful walk to the edge!
