Lovely Sunday lunch with the family. Great food and good portion size. Had the full 3 courses...now fit to burst! Very friendly and attentive staff. I would definitely recommend trying this out.

Where do I start..... avoid at all cost !If I could score 0 , I would have done .Checked that they could accommodate a family group of 12 to celebrate mums 70th birthday and was reassured it wouldn’t be a problem. How wrong they were.... service appalling! Richard cooks/served has ZERO customer service ! He constantly wiped his brow with tea towel he then serviced dinner plates with... he wore socks throughout .... he moaned he was too busy to bring all our cutlery out or the garnish for meals.... and I use the word ‘meals’ very loosely !The mixed grill was undercooked, bland, tasteless (except for copious amounts for pepper) ... the hunters chicken was a chicken breast ... tough as old boots... covered with cold BBQ sauce and cold grated cheese ... Richard accidentally ‘stabbed’ the forearm of my young nephew when placing steak knife on table ... when challenged he said he was busy trying to get everything served ! No apology or concern for nephews well-being !We approached Richard and Steve to complain about the poor food... who looked at the 11 plates still 3/4 full of the food !... and Richard then said and I quote ‘f**k this I’ve had enough ... took glasses off... got a whisky from the bar.. and sat outside ... Steve swore on numerous occasions and said he ‘needed to get in the kitchen as he’s left a steak on the grill which was ordered as medium and if he didn’t hurry up he’s get another f**king complaint !’ Our group also included 2 children, my 70 year old mum, who all witnessed their foul language, disgusting defensive behaviour and complete lack of customer service !A polite young bar person and server apologised profusely for our experience . I initially requested a refund for the 2 mixed grills (inedible) but for the behaviour and extremely upsetting experience that followed I requested a full refund.... which we eventually received!

We stayed at the George and Dragon for a weekend because it is quite close to Pryor Hayes where we were attending a wedding. It's a nice country pub with a lively atmosphere, a good selection of beers... and gins and the landlord & landlady were very welcoming and friendly,. The ensuite rooms are well presented and very clean with tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was very nice and plenty of it and bar meals were up to the same standard. There are 2 outdoor seating areas, one of them is a pleasant walled garden off the bar area where you listen to the church bell ringers practicing and there is a decent sized car park.Overall we were very happy with our stay at the G& D, nothing seemed to be too much trouble and we were made to feel very welcome here. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area.As mentioned earlier there was quite a lively atmosphere on the Friday evening we were there, with music and some customers dancing in the bar so if you are looking for a very quiet peaceful evening this may not be what you are looking for, but we really enjoyed our stay here.
