The Bawn Lodge Bar in Cheshire West and Chester

If anyone sees our reviews they’ll know we usually don’t hand out bad ones. But this one we couldn’t let it pass. 4,6 on Google, 8,8 on Booking. HOW?We searched for a hotel in Chester with a safe parking spot. There you have your 1 star, it’s spacious and safe to park your car. The other star is for the eggs benedict served at breakfast and the friendly women serving. Everything else is just a disgrace, in our opinion, for £90. We had room number 8 and sincerely hope it’s just that one that’s so bad. Dirty carpet, scuffed walls (dirt and dents), cracked tiles in the bathroom, rusty bin (just not safe!), missing tile joints, soap lengthened with water, dirty soap dispenser in the shower. The room is very noisy as well. The toilets from the bar are next to room 8 which meant that everytime someone flushed or used the hand dryer, we heard it. People above us used the shower, we heard it. They got up before us, we heard it. As said were the eggs benedict delish. Coffee wasn’t very good and my tea pot was just dirty at the pouring bit! The floor in the breakfast area is just a disgrace. Your shoes stick to it from all the dirt on it. Many stained chairs. We could go on and on. Seeing is believing, please see a few pictures below. If this was a £50 stay we would’ve been ‘oh well’, but £90! For us that’s €104, just flabbergasted for the quality we received. We would’ve mentioned all of this to the receptionist when we left but she was in a call. Let’s just say we absolutely hated staying here and will never ever come back.

Been in a few times for drinks but had food for the second time now. Great food, great cask beers and attentive staff. Strongly recommend 👌

Stayed last year for the races had a great weekend couldn't wait to book again staff were great room boss bar an added bonus stayed in quite a few places in Chester this is our favourite 👍

A nice relaxed, friendly place in Hoole.Has plenty of seating space outside also, and the food is pretty good also. Eaten there on a few occasions.

Had a lovely meal there. They have a good selection of food on the menu and all meals where reasonably price I found the staff very helpful and friendly will definitely go back

Enjoyed our night at the Bawn Lodge, room had all we needed, with shower and toilet, full English breakfast was very goodVery close to city, only down side tv remote not working properly im sure it would of been sorted if I'd 1asked.

Very nice small hotel with owners. Everything was nice, room great, tasty food, parking behind hotel. Inside hotel you can eat and don't need to go far away looking for restaurant. Everything what you need in one place. Great place, highly recommend!

The location was excellent, short walk into the town centre, the room had everything you needed, was clean warm and comfy. The bar area was great well stocked, quick service from friendly staff, the meal we had in the bar was excellent could not fault it, and very good price would highly recommend a stay, we will definitely be back.

Well decorated room, had all of the essentials, a banging breakfast and evening meal, however, be prepared to walk into a cold room that takes a while to warm up, no staff wear masks and the smoke alarm was not properly attached to the ceiling in our room. Overall a nice property though.

Great affordable place to stay, staff are really nice and breakfast was good quality. Rooms where clean and the bar was well stocked and well run.So good booked for over new year 👍 👏# UPDATE# Had a family room over new year break, staff second to none room not so, toilet roll holder had been broken off wall and not replaced and whole bathroom looked tired and worn out, reported bathroom door handle twice and still not sorted. Marked down from 5 stars to 4 based on room only. Should be 3 but everything else was great.
