Popped in at midday today, wasn’t to busy at that time thankfully. Ordered a couple of drinks and sat in the snug . Menu looked great so I had a roast beef Sunday dinner and my other half had the steak and ale pie . Both meals were absolutely delicious and served promptly. As we was leaving the place was rammed so advise booking . Staff where very good and pleasant , thanks to them all . All in all an amazing country pub that’s everything you want in a country pub . See you again soon and thank you .

Decided to call into the Boot for a late lunch/early tea, the pub was quiet maybe 10people in the restaurant. We ordered our drinks and asked if they had a table for 2 as we hadn’t booked in advance, the barmaid asked her colleague who retorted “for god sake can’t people book! We were absolutely mortified that a senior member of staff could be so rude, even the barmaid looked suitable embarrassed! Amazingly she did find us a table in the almost empty restaurant, our meals we adequate but we were not checked to see if everything was ok or if we needed further drinks. Very disappointed that a senior member of staff thinks it’s acceptable to be so rude!

My wife and were invited to dinner by our daughter for Mother's day. It looked a lovely oldê world pub in the middle of nowhere. I would have given it 5***** but it's a pity I had to have my meal twice! As we (my wife, my daughter and grandson) were sitting at the table and had just started to tuck into our meal, from the ceiling above me came Noah's flood from the bathroom above. Sods-law for me, it was right over where I was sitting! It soaked me, my meal and into my pint of Guinness. We'll, I had drunk half if it, but the glass was now near full again. 🤣😂😅Now these things happen, and normally I would just shrug it off, but why I'm reporting it is, we were told that this was NOT the first time and it happens all the time when a guest uses the shower in the room above. Now one would think that if it happened once, you'd do something about it. Firstly you would not put a dinning table under a known leaking shower. Secondly you would get a plumber in to fix it asap. Staff knew exactly what to do and we'll rehearsed, buckets, T towels etc. came out.We were moved to another table, apologies where abound. I insisted I was given a fresh meal and drink because as far a I was aware the water could have come from the toilet's soil pipe. 😱.The mess was cleaned up but....... Before it had time to fully dry the table was relaid and another family were sat down and were using the same table in the same place! 🤔 😱.I joked with management about the situation, but to be honest, it was very unpleasant as it didn't matter if the water leaked from the shower or toilet soil pipe it was dirty water and it had dropped right on my head, into my meal, drink and on the table. My wife, as soon as we got home, made me get out of all my clothes and put them through the washing machine she then put me into the shower! 😱 WHAT! I've had my shower for this year. 🤣😂😅

Delightful country pub, perfect place to sit and enjoy your well earned ale after walking on the Sandstone Trail.

·

Lovely cosy pub, staff are so friendly & Polite, food was superb, highly recommend a visit, we can’t wait to come back again

Great food... booked in advance, would have preferred to sit in the main restaurant. A table of six for two in the annex didn't give the cosy, comfortable feel you normally get from the Boot. In hindsight we should have just asked to sit in the bar. Staff were fantastic and food and menu choices second to none.
