·

Very pedestrian and limited beer choice, staff not very forthcoming and not a very good knowledge of products. Overall disappointed but will give it another chance could have just caught them on a bad day

·

Very nice and very pleasant staff and not over priced lovely afternoon

Loved the Wainwright , reasonably priced, very good steak.

Breakfast was great. Bathroom was a little dirty and bed was too short.

Lived in Hartford for nearly a year now but due to closure and lock down had only had fish and chips to take away, though they themselves were fantastic and the best spam fritters. First time in the pub and its a perfect local. Roaring fire, fine food, great selection of ale and whiskey and a great landlord. What more could anyone ask

First time in there and definitely my last. My daughter wanted to treat me to a Sunday dinner. So we called in around about 5pm. There weren't many people in and just a Carvery was being served. So my daughter enquiried about any Vegetarian options for me. None whatsoever on offer or available and nothing substantial to offer in place, not even a hint of a veggie soup. A member of staff went into the kitchen and asked on my behalf only to receive a negative reply. Quiet shocking really. Here in 2021 I was lelt to feel like I was being dismissed for my choice of dietary lifestyle. They did however offer a plate of vegetables at a reduced price. So I asked the price and it was £8.95, the same price as a childrens meal, as opposed to the full £14.95 adult meal. I was a little taken aback by then with all the negative responses and decided that it wasn't worth paying that for a plate of vegetables. I said to my daughter that I would be fine with just a drink. I could see that she was disappointed. It was very much 'take it or leave it attitude'. I wanted to bolt but my daughter was really looking forward to a Carvery and it was getting late for the baby.Someone's conscience must have been playing up because in the very end a lovely lady said to my daughter tell your mum to get a small plate and help herself to the vegetables for free. I didn't want to ruin anything and went up to explore my only option. There were hardly any vegetables there anyway and being totally honest they were barely luke warm and were clearly the leftovers. I would never ever have paid for that. By then I was now more disheartened.Overall it was quite a poor show from the Coachman in regards to hospitality.I sat there looking at this almost impressive wall menu; full of 'Plats de Mer' whilst pushing cold leftover vegetables around my plate. Yes I appreciate that they were free but they were such a sad show.Don't let me forget to mention that there are no highchairs on the premises and no baby change facilities in the toilets either. They did have a disabled toilet without any baby changing facilities and it also had ran out of paper towels and had no other hand drying facilities. In summary our little trip out for a local Sunday dinner out was a total write off, in both of our opinions.

Meh, dead inside early evening on a Tuesday. Fair enough. No bar snacks at all to go with my pretty awful pint. Not much selection of ales. Won't be hurrying back. Shame as it's in a great spot.

Stopped over for a night whilst watching the weekend racing at oulton park. The owner of the hotel is a top guy, very helpful and polite. Wouldnt have a problem recommending 👍

Best chips ever! Whether it’s because I’ve been starved of proper chips for over a year these chips (& fish come to that!) we’re just exceptional! Hot, crunchy outside and fluffy inside, fried deep brown colour and salted to perfection. The home-made tartare sauce was lovely too. Delivered to our car by a very pleasant chap wishing us a Happy Easter, my wife & I enjoyed the best fish & chips we’ve ever had. Will definitely go again.

My son and friends went to the Coachman. It was dark and they didn't see the signs asking them to report to reception. As a result he received a £60 parking fine.He spoke to 3 different staff members and provided proof that he had attended the pub and, was assured that the manager would email the parking company and have the charge removed. This didn't happen and he received an increased fine and threatening letter. He asked the pub for assistance again and was told that the manager would email, it never happened.I wrote to the parking company explaining the situation but was told that the fine would be enforced if not paid immediately.AVOID this place and spend money with a pub that respects its customers. In these times when the hospitality industry is struggling you would hope that the manager would be inclined to look after customers, then the pub would have received the £60 in revenue over the coming weeks instead of the parking company.
