Nice place for a drink, sit out by the canal and watch all the boats go by. Never had food so cannot comment and don’t seem open that often due to staff shortages which seems to have gone on for a long time but catch them when they are open and makes for a lovely evening drink

Perfectly placed for a walk along the canal. Lunch was delicious, my teenagers devoured it, and my request for vast quantities of tartare sauce for my delish fish was admirably met. In the words of the great Arnie "I'll be back"...Beautiful location, canalside, with a view of the castle.

Lovely pub, friendly staff, excellent food. It was too cold to sit outside but would be lovely to sit next to the canal when the weather is warm.

Great country pub right on the canal. The pub actually has some mooring at the bottom of the beer garden. We just had drinks and a pudding as we had already eaten. But other people's meals looked good.

We stayed here in our campervan (first ever trip in it). Its an adult only site, which is situated in a lovely setting with views of Beeston & Peckforton Castle. Also with the canal right on the door-step. The showers/toilet facilities are spotlessly clean. The food is really nice and the staff & management friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend it.

Wonderful setting next to the canal and with the castle in the background. Friendly staff, quick service and excellent food (had the deli box) and had a lovely IPA. Great way to finish our 15km hike.

Shady oak is a lovely little pub, the beer garden overlooks the Shropshire Union Canal and Beeston Castle. The meal was a deli box, it was very good and well presented. There was social distancing and the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

A lovely true canal side pub and great outdoors area overlooking the canal and narowboats moored up either side.We only popped in for a early evening drink, the ale was great and we enjoyed the relaxing canal atmosphere outside with all the moored up narrowboats adding a special ambiance to the setting. The staff were welcoming and friendly and a family we met on the towpath had been for a meal and they said they enjoyed it although the menu was limited which is understandable due to the recent opening of pubs and restaurants after Covid19.We'll definitely pop in again should we come back to this part of the Shropshire Union canal...

It's better than than the exterior would suggest. Pleasant staff, an interesting menu, great beers and good food. There's also a small childrens play area and a lovely beer garden overlooking the canal. It would have got five stars, but the plaice tasted remarkably like fish flavoured cardboard!
