"A traditional coaching inn with rooms in the quaint village of Parkgate, Wirral. It is as much the localās local as it is the visitorās retreat, offering the perfect afternoon stop, evening out or weekend escape. The bar has an array of great local ales, quality wines, special spirits and soft drinks. The pub offers a buzzy atmosphere serving a hearty homemade menu bursting with British classics as well as some creative seasonal specials. My daughter and her boyfriend went to stay in ourcottage in Parkgate last weekend. They went into The Ship and had an awful experience 2 nights running, the first night (Saturday) one of the female staff, girl in her 20's with long dark hair was extremely rude on 2 occasions and told them at 11.20pm to get out as she had the keys in her hand to lock up! (Her exact words). Then they thought the next night they would give it a try again and 2 male members of staff were rude and unprofessional. I am starting to run an Airbnb but I certainly won't recommend this pub. They need to seriously look at their staffing and take a leaf out of The Red Lions book where the staff are really lovely and helpful š”

Lovely environment. Lovely staff. Great place for food, just a coffee or a drink.

Took friends for an evening meal. Food and service very good as was the newly refurbished premises. Thoroughly enjoyable evening. Also worthy of mentioning was the management dealt with 3 demanding customers in an efficient and courteous manner.

Great Staff, Good Beer, Nice Decor, Shockingly Bad Food. Never complain but simply had to. Shame.

Could hear a loud buzzing noise from outside our window, sounded like a fan, the shower door kept banging on toilet. TV or remote didnāt work properly, good & drinks expensive. Positive is itās clean & staff friendly but l donāt think itās worth the price , l expected better

Lovely refurbished rooms. Food was good. Staff very helpful and friendly. No lift, small stairs inside a problem for the elderly or disabled.

Order a drink, asked iff they were still serving food at 12:50pm. Waitress said yes, took 5 minutes to choose my meal, went to the bar, barman said they had stopped serving. Why didnt the waitress tell me they wernt serving when i asked for a menu. I could of gone and ate somewhere else

I wasnāt going to review but not even asked in the morning how my stay was. So here it is. Room next to what I can only describe as a washing machine on constant. Building work going on early morning very noisy with the builders belting out ācoming in the air tonightā, then even though checkout was 11am the house keeper tried to come into room at 8am. Seriously! Need to sort out. Inc room and food I was rinsed for Ā£158. Food though on a positive was great.

Staff very friendly, polite and attentive. The pub has a great admosphere and layout, very welcoming.Overall, the food was very good, a good variety on the menu too. I had the calamari to start which was a little overdone and on the chewy side, but still tasted good. The steak and ale pie was very good, as was the fish and chips, decent generous portions.Looking forward to trying something else on our next visit.
