Went to the White Lion today Saturday, the 2nd of April and was very very disappointed had to wait an hour and 15 minutes for our meal to come after taking the order people coming in Half an hour after our order was taken and getting their food before us this is completely not acceptable and a disgrace. This was a celebration for my father who was 95 on Saturday 2 April we didn’t want to say to much for fear of upsetting him in what should have been a happy occasion

Really welcoming place with a good variety of menu options.Came for lunch with my kids and we all enjoyed different flavoured baguettes.Really recommend coming and trying for yourself

Stood waiting to be seated for far to long, lady behind the bar was to busy serving drinks. Not well organised, order the two meat roast - waited over 45 mins for one piece of dried out turkey. The Yorkshire pudding was like cardboard, roasties were cold and gravy very watery, not very busy and no staff. Over priced for what you get especially the service. Disappointed as was for my birthday meal and last time we were here was really nice. Won't be back

The White Lion is a lovely rural pub on the edge of Delamere Forest one of the largest areas of woodland in the country. There's a warm welcome waiting for you after a day exploring. Relax in the cosy atmosphere and enjoy a refreshing drink. Treat yourself to a tasty snack or meal from their delicious menu. The staff are really helpful and will prepare your order to your liking, always happy to help.

It really doesn't deserve any stars but that's not an option on here.Pre booked table for a bithday meal, pre booked all meals. Waited an hour and a half for the meals, when they came some were wrong, food was cold, the toddler was server 10 minutes after everyone else and her food was too hot even for an adult. The food wasn't even that good when we did get it. Some had ordered dessert but they never appeared. When we complained to a waitress she said she'd get someone to come and see you, again we didn't see anyone. Whole evening was ruined. Wouldn't bother going back.

Went for Sunday lunch, a very good selection plus a choice of three roasts. Excellent choice of desserts and definitely recommend the waffles. Only drawback was the service was slow. Oh and advisable to book.

Lovely setting and the renovations look great.Food is lackluster, place was not very busy when we arrived but food still took a long time. For the price point the food wasn't up to par, I had the harissa cod loin which was 50% what looked like raw tomato slices. My wife is vegan and ordered the curry, she didn't enjoy it and it came with a non vegan naan bread. Strange.Overall loved the feel of the place but the food was poor and I left feeling hungry.Won't be returning.

A badly managed establishment. We entered and waited to be seated as the sign said. We were then asked by the barman if he could help us, explaining we were complying with their sign he told us to sit anywhere free and that it was table service and he would be right with us. Fifteen minutes later having not even been asked what drinks we wanted and the 2 ladies on the next table were moaning about the service a gentleman in the next booth went to the bar and got served beer we decided to leave. Our previous visit here ended with them only bringing 3 of the 4 meals offered. They may be short staffed but they should manage expectations even when the place is clearly less than half full and tell people of expected waiting times. The Queens Head in Frodsham turned out to be a far better option.

Love the white lion, beautiful country pub, visited often over the years. Lunch with mum Both had prawn cocktail, proper cooked chips. Generous and delicious. Looked after by Charmain and staff, very attentive, friendly

Visited the White Lion last night with family, we had a brilliant evening! The food was delicious - would definitely recommend the fish & chips or scampi! The puddings were incredible! I had the warm waffle with honeycomb ice cream and my partner had the chocolate brownie - both were amazing! The restaurant itself is lovely, very spread apart from other tables and socially distanced. The staff were really friendly and efficient. Would definitely go back.
