Originally booked for an evening meal. phoned up early in the day to explain our plans had changed and they was happy for us to change. Food was great and location was good for where we was staying. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Ok.really, mushrooms for starters Hmm I'd think rice. Lasagna was nice enough. Not the best Boddingtons I've had. Staff are OK.

Lovely meals . Reasonably priced . Good customer service. Worth a visit

Friendly family pub that allowed my dog to come in. Food was nice and portion sizes were good. They were booked up and turning people who arrived after us so book early. I will probably go there again.

·

Excellent food though we found the portions to be quite large. If you have a good appetite this would be great if not there could be a lot of waste. Nice pub with comfortable surroundings and friendly and efficient service would definitely visit again.

Been 33 Years since I have been in this pub. Worked there full time in my younger years when John Bond was the landlord. Its changed a lot since i was there. I have taken 1 star off due to the quality of the meat, Home made roast they said and everything was great apart from the meat being sliced meat and when your paying over the odds (ÂŁ16.99) for a roast dinner you would expect real meat. ÂŁ5.40 for a Pint :-( as well. Staff very friendly. They need to address a few things as it could be a booming pub for meals.

Visited with the family on a Saturday evening. Despite thinking the timing would be a detriment, the service was brilliant. I ordered bacon and black pudding stack to start as a change - made me really appreciate black pudding as it was superb. Despite the food being top notch, the attentiveness and pleasantness of the staff sticks with me more. The Guinness came with a shamrock. Result.

Absolutely fabulous food. Service was amazing too. Manager couldn't do enough to help us. Stayed at local glamping site with a short walk to the pub.. I would definitely drive from my home in Liverpool just for one of there gorgeous meals. We went on a Saturday evening and then we loved it that much we booked for Sunday roast.

The food is average to poor but yet pretty expensive. Staff seemed as though they’re aware of the poor standard of the food but not quite willing to address it- were happy to discuss the meals that were actually touched but not the full plates. Our drinks, even though they were highly overpriced, were the highlight of the meal, as well as the fresh tasting pizza, but I honestly wouldn’t recommend anything else we had. The few bites of the Hunter’s Chicken I took made me feel sick! As you can see from the only image I have, it was swimming in a sauce which ruined everything, as it tasted absolutely disgusting. The chicken itself was weird tasting as it was likely processed and the chips were quite stale. The nachos were described as Mexican but served with cucumber? Can’t tell from the image as the presentation was on point, but the nachos were ice cold and served with cold salad which is nothing like I’ve had before (warm cheese, jalapeños and salsa). The soup looked amazing but even after a huge amount of salt and pepper it was flavourless and the bread which was described as “warm” and ”crusty”, ended up being a cold store-bought soft bread roll/baguette, which wasn’t even the slightest bit crispy. All and all disappointed. Wouldn’t go back again and certainly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone! Don’t know why it’s got so many good reviews?? Maybe it’s due to the recent change in chef, so older reviews may have been more pleasant, or the lack of hospitality places in Frodsham? The venue is also pretty but that doesn’t make for good food. Definitely not worth your money.

We went to Travellers Rest for Sunday lunch. The food is to die for, the staff are amazing, it is spotlessly clean. I recommend 100%. We will be going back
