Gorgeous sunday roast today. And they very kindly boxed up a child's portion to take to my mum, as her mobility is not good enough to get her to the pub. Lovely interior, and really helpful, efficient staff. Mum really enjoyed her takeaway roast. Thank you.

Loved it. Lovely staff, lovely food, lovely fire. One of the few pubs that has kept it character in Chester and I will definitely go back 🙂

Great old pub. Decent selection of beers. Had an open fire, they've kept things really traditional. Even the lighting! It's quite moody in there, bring a candle or a lantern to see who you're speaking to.

A lovely 450 year old pub. Warm fire, great food, lovely staff really attentive and good humoured, made us feel so so welcome. We will be back.

Cool old pub with nice food. The fish and chips was delicious. Only problem was it was very cold, we had to sit with our coats on. But I would go again :)

Nice cozy atmosphere. Lovely to see a real fire. Nice old fashioned pub with dim period style lighting. Friendly staff

I love this pub. You can feel the aged atmosphere as you go in, even the smoky fire was brilliant. Only problem was the steak sandwich was actually a dry roast beef sandwich, all the other food we ordered was great and the serving staff were really nice.

Great atmospheric pub. You can enjoy a cosy pint with a real fire. The timber beams really make this pub.The food is very good, decent pub grub. Would have been 5 stars from me but as lovely as my meal was the steak and ale pie needed more meat in it. Despite that this my favourite boozer in Chester.

If I could move to Chester....it would be to have this place as a local. The food is good, the beer is stunning, but the main feature of this place is the service. Last night we dropped in for a few beers and decided to eat here tonight, walked in to book a table and within 3 minutes all 3 members of staff asked if I was being served. Came tonight for a meal, and just brilliant. Less staff on, but the service is just as exceptional, thank you. 🙂
