The food that I ate at The Bowling Green was very nice and reasonably priced. One of the group of people that I was with was waiting a considerable amount of time in my opinion for some ice cream and I thought that one of the staff members was quite abrupt when they were placing the food on the table. I also find it very odd that all of the condiments where not on the table and we had to get them ourselves and there wasn't any cutlery on our table.

We have been here to the bowling green at least 5 times, and every single time get the same experience which the only way to describe it as perfect. The standard of cooking is excellent and more importantly consistently good. The staff go out of their way to make YOU feel like you're getting your monies worth. They even cater for pets in the form of a takeaway . Very welcoming, and very satisfying. Definitely the pub to go to . Well done and keep it up.

Our meals took over 40 minutes to arrive and were only just lukewarm! My husband's mild curry was so over-spiced that it was inedible. We much preferred The Bowling Green before the pandemic and they had a carvery.

Fantastic family meal, four adults with the option to sit in an adult only area away from children, our meals were hot and plentiful my only grumble was that I noticed on getting home that we had been over charged for one of our meals, it was fish Friday and we were charged the full menu price and not the Friday reduced offer but that was the only gripe the chicken buttermilk burgers were beautiful and the ultimate bbq was to big to be finished. A good family meal definitely will call again x

Filthy tables and chairs, miserable staff, greasy over priced food, screaming children and poor parenting. We arrived and were seated at a table that needed cleaning - we asked for this to be done and the effort from the young girl was poor (she looked about 11, so may not have had this training!). Had to clean table and high chair as they were filthy (thankfully had several packs of baby wipes in the bag!). We weren’t able to make use of the ‘offers’ as described as a fresh orange and lemonade wasn’t classed as an ‘offer’ drink. I’m sure for a children’s party it might be an okay venue, but for a family looking for a nice meal, it’s a no. Everywhere needs a thorough clean - including the children’s play area!

A very busy Friday tea time. Staff were brilliant despite this and replaced luke warm food. Clean and well furnished. Lovely fish finger butty. French fries been left warm too long and had dried up

This was recommended on Buckshaw Village Facebook group by someone. It was our first visit and we were more than happy with everything, from the location to the service, and the food to the kids indoor and outdoor play areas. Finally somewhere you can go where the kids don't have to sit on tablets and the parents have a chance to actually enjoy a meal! We both said it was probably the best turkey (from the carvery) that we had ever eaten. I think we have found a little gem here and will definitely be going again. Thanks The Bowling Green staff. 1st class.

Visited here last night for a carvery and I thought the food was excellent. There was a warm and welcoming feel as we walked in and the service was great. Would definitely come here again!

·

Visited in the past and was not impressed. However this time around we had completely different experience. Place was so nice and welcoming, very clean for change with cutlery nicely polished. Food was nicely cooked and hot when served. Worth to visit.

Asked if they did carvery all week to book for my nans birthday they said they did however when we arrived they told us its only on a Sunday, also made mistakes with order and we're far from friendly. Would not recommend to others
