This is my dream of what a pub should be. A great selection of cask ales at reasonable prices, good bar snacks (filled rolls and pork pies when we were there) and friendly staff.

This is one of my regular haunts. A good pub with a good selection of ales. The pub also has a variety of reasonably priced lunchtime barmcakes and pies. The staff are friendly and there is a nice feel to this place.

A very welcoming pub, and one in the traditional mould of things. With so many so-called micro-pubs in the town, this pub stands out for its glorious traditional interior, plus the cask ale offering of eight or nine beers. Look out too for the great value sandwiches, the pies, and the pickled eggs. Great welcome from the staff. Very handy for the southbound platform of nearby rail station. Highly recommended.
