Excellent place for a family lunch. Plenty for the kids to do and food really good. There is a kid free area as well if that's what you want. Staff were all amazing even though they were short staffed, all doing multiple jobs to make sure the place kept running and keeping customer's happy. They are a credit to the pub!!

Okay food, nothing spectacular. Good place to eat for families with young kids as there are in and out door play areas. Ice cream stand is probably best thing about the place! Staff were friendly and helpful. Very quiet between 3.30pm and 5pm.

It was very quiet on Wed eve at half term. We thought would be busier but there were more people sat in the conservatory area which looks out on to the back garden with table benches and a little playground. The staff were all really lovely, friendly and helpful & service was quick. The table waitress was attentive & the bar staff really chatty & friendly. The food can be a bit more expensive than a spoons for example but it is really good & plenty of it. I had the jackfruit wings they were great & tried some cheese pie & a bit of chilli- all really tasty.Had a strongbow which is £5.20 per pint I think & sat outside later with a tub of icecream got 3 scoops & the banana split one was 🙌 wow. There seating outside to the front then round the side more family orientated near the enclosed playground with a little climbing frame etc for children. It was very clean, nice atmosphere & the music was entertaining cos it would alternate between a song from around the 50s, or even late 40s that I knew from my grandma/parents singing it to modern day songs which completely messed with my head but in a good way lol.Really enjoyed it & the kids go often & I'll definitely be going back.

Salad leaves tomatoes and cucumber for a tenner, no ..left hungry and upset, if you know little about food you could be ok, though firecracker chicken using bottled fire made it sour tasting, This is a salad I made, for ten pounds it's a minimum requirements for taste, beautiful pub lovely staff, immaculate and great for kids, the kids menu is very good, activities even better, maybe three dishes firecracker chicken with it's hot sauce to substitute for a lack of knowledge, or the jackfruit curry like a dark sweet jarred korma with coliflour rice, no it's still coliflour, added to that sauce it's a disaster, ifa salad states items that are not on the salad leaving them out of green leaves and half a tomato for ten pounds would only serve the negative, good luck, I will be back, though I will order a kids meal

My family and I came for a funeral recently and we was welcomed into the warm friendly environment with smiles and efficient service, food from the buffet was lovely and compliments on the carvery. The place definitely made a difficult day a little bit easier for everyone who attended :)

We attended a dear friend's wake here with many friends and family. We had lunch beforehand which was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff, in particular Mia, were absolutely brilliant, they couldn't have been any more kind or helpful to us all. Serving a large number of people who were drinking and provided a good spread of buffet food.In all, they were part of the whole thing and we're able to make the occasion an easier one.Would definitely recommend using The Bowling Green for any occasions.

We booked Mother's Day for the family and had a most enjoyable visit. Unlike other venue's on special occasions, they did not increase prices , reduce portions or quality. Also amazingly they reduced all mums main meals by 50%.Would highly recommend the Bowling Green with or without children at any time of day.My only recommendation because most pay by card, is that some means of financially rewarding the staff with card or cash tips. Had to resort to just passing on cash tip to the receptionist on our way out, rather than the staff who served us. WELL DONE EVERYONE AND THANKS.

We have been here to the bowling green at least 5 times, and every single time get the same experience which the only way to describe it as perfect. The standard of cooking is excellent and more importantly consistently good. The staff go out of their way to make YOU feel like you're getting your monies worth. They even cater for pets in the form of a takeaway . Very welcoming, and very satisfying. Definitely the pub to go to . Well done and keep it up.

The food that I ate at The Bowling Green was very nice and reasonably priced. One of the group of people that I was with was waiting a considerable amount of time in my opinion for some ice cream and I thought that one of the staff members was quite abrupt when they were placing the food on the table. I also find it very odd that all of the condiments where not on the table and we had to get them ourselves and there wasn't any cutlery on our table.

Fantastic family meal, four adults with the option to sit in an adult only area away from children, our meals were hot and plentiful my only grumble was that I noticed on getting home that we had been over charged for one of our meals, it was fish Friday and we were charged the full menu price and not the Friday reduced offer but that was the only gripe the chicken buttermilk burgers were beautiful and the ultimate bbq was to big to be finished. A good family meal definitely will call again x
