Food was great! Staff were friendly and attentive. Lost a star because it took 40 minutes to actually receive our order and it wasn't especially busy. But we will deffo go back!!

Just called in for drinks tonight...great atmosphere, good to see it busy, great staff always ready to serve you. Dom was great behind the bar. He was new, I think only 3 weeks there, but great guy, attentive, and gets stuck into any task.... fantastic service Dom.... We will be back in the next week or so and become regulars..

Excellent fry up breakfast this morning, My wife and I were greeted by John who really looked after us during our visit. The food was tasty and hot with minimal waiting for the food to arrive. We will definately visit again in the near future. well done to the staff.

I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of my meal at The Plough. I had the venison and my husband has the steak pie, it was delicious! The young girl who served us was great, so polite. Will be back again!!

Had a lovely lunch at the plough today. Reasonably priced, fab staff. The only thing that we would have liked is to have a lovely fire lit as it a large area to heat and wasn't very warm. Would definitely go again!!!

Today was my first and last visit to The Plough. My friend had a salmon dish which was a lovely portion. I had fish pie only 2 forks of fish in the dish, the rest was 4" of mashed potatoes and peas. It was tasteless the worst 'fish pie' I have had. The vegetables accompanying entailed of 3 slivers of carrot and 7 tiny pieces of onion. The fish pie cost £11.95 shocking! Also it was freezing cold in the dining area.

Been visiting this place on and off for many, many years. As management and catering have changed over time do have its standards. I think the current iteration is pretty good. Our recent visit was party of 5 and we all had different mains which showed a decent standard across the board. There is plenty of choice and dishes are good size. Some excellent beers to accompany the food. I will definitely be back again.

Visited The Plough on the second day of opening after the lockdown restrictions eased to outdoor dining being allowed (13th April visit, around 5pm). Service was good , tables were nicely spaced apart, little one enjoyed his children's pasta and ice cream. Hubby and I ordered a rump steak each, cooked medium rare - when it arrived it looked OK and we were busy sorting the little one when the waitress came over and asked if everything was OK so we just said yes... anyway once we cut into the steaks they were red and bloody (more rare than medium rare) which wouldn't have been the biggest issue but the cuts of steak were also quite chewy so we didn't really enjoy them. Paid upfront due to the situation with outdoor eating in the pandemic so didn't get chance to raise the issue. We were sat outside on a picnic bench in the sun (which luckily it was a glorious sunny day) but if it was night time or cloudy then it would have been different - didn't see any areas under cover or any outdoor heaters or anything like that... staff wore masks and all customers did too until at tables. Tables were spaced out quite well which was nice - it wasn't crowded...Overall we enjoyed our experience there and put the issue with the steak down to it being so soon after reopening and maybe supply issues too, we would revisit and hopefully get a better cut and cooked steak next time! Shame as it seemed a lovely restaurant and the staff were really friendly and helpful - we will be back at some point to give them another chance... we are new to the area (moved during lockdown) and are making our way round the restaurants and trying to find a new favourite :)
