Hartley's Beach Shop and Cafe in Copeland

Young staff need to be given the benefit of the doubt everyone needs to learn. But when you have literally paid for 2 takeaway teas and the person making the drinks asks person who took order what have they ordered and they say I don't know .... really ? Less than a minute ago you took the order.Also not very hygieneic filling up the cleaning bucket of water from the coffee machine to clean the floor just before closing time... or thats what it appeared to be... dirty bucket on floor lifted up to drinks equipment.... hmmmm.Last time we visited waited a long time for drinks staff appearing to be busy but actually doing not a lot.Appreciate staff shortages but if staff have a happy smile and listen to customer's they might give customers a bit more faith in wanting to come back again rather than being grumpy and wandering around doing what it appears not a lot....Doubt we will be visiting again...

Staff couldn’t have been nicer. I went in for a takeaway. A wider selection for gluten free cakes would be appreciated.

We fancied scampi and chips and pancakes but weren't hungry enough for both. They had no problem with us sharing a main course and a dessert so we got to enjoy both. They were delicious, will go again 😋

A really friendly place to be with outstanding beautiful views over the Irish sea. Nothing fancy food wise,but good, hot, freshly cooked food and delicious Hartley's ice cream. Homemade soup always a hit!

A mixture of beach shop, buckets spades etc and cafe with some views out to sea and along coast. Range of standard cafe snack food. Main reason to visit is the Hartleys Ice Cream. Wonderful taste any time of the year.

Nice friendly clean beach side café & shop. Friendly staff serving good quality grub from all day breakfast to toasties & scampi n chips, sandwiches etc at very reasonable prices. Great for post beach wanders with the dog to get a coffee (dogs not allowed in but there's seating outside.)

Lovely view of the sea. Friendly helpful staff. The scampi was lovely...I recommend it. The ice cream is delicious and is made in the Hartley ice cream factory in Egremont.

Great drinks and toasties. Had to have lunch pudding - one of their great ice creams too! Currently only serving takeaways.
