The Screes Inn in Copeland

Great place for a weekend stop over. Rooms are clean if a little basic but I dont mind that and overall great value. Beer and hospitality however cannot be faulted, with beer brewed on the premises (well across the road) and very good indeed. Menu misses a trick here and there (no Cumberland sausage or Lakeland lamb) but can recommend the fish and chips and the steak pie

Lovely and cosy country pub! A warm welcome when we arrived by staff along with a roaring fire. Food was incredible. Recommended the beer cheese!

My boyfriend and I went to Lake District for my 21st birthday. After climbing Scafell Pike, we were travelling back to our place of accommodation in the dark, in heavy rain and I drove into an unseen pothole. I had a completely flat tyre and neither one of us could remember how to change it. We had no signal or service. So I began to drive slowly (which you really shouldn’t do!), and we managed to make it to The Screes Inn. The people who worked there were so incredibly helpful. The wheel was hard to get off because I had driven on it but they persevered and continued to help until I had my spare wheel on. After, they invited us in for a hot chocolate as all our clothes were soaked through from the rain. Such kind people who went out of their way to help and honestly without them - I don’t know what me and my bf would have done! Had to leave a review as some way of thanks. Thank you, your act of kindness has not been forgotten

the location isn't great, it is in the middle of nowhere. The pub is very small and not attractive at all, it doesn't really make you feel like sitting down and have a drink.Staff is not very experienced and not that friendly either.The room is small, as it is the bathroom.The sheets were dirty and the shower was blocked, with water rising to my ankles.The person that was sent to fix it didn't have a clue and promised that someone would come in the morning to sort it out.It didn't happen.We told the owner and she didn't even offer a refund, she just said: "these things happen and there is no way we can know about it". Well, if the cleaner does her job she will definitely notice that water isn't flowing as it should!!!Breakfast was a joke, a little amount of food,It definitely looks like they are trying to get as much money as possible.Almost 100£ a night for a place like this is just not fair.

Every aspect of this place is perfect. Amazing views, staff were so friendly and so helpful, food was incredible (the best meal I’ve ever had out) and in a fantastic location. Would 100% recommend and 100% stay again.

Good food and drink plus a nice team. Struggling with staffing which limited service but I can't hold that against the team there.Room was small but clean and also strangely hot even though we had the radiator off .Even with the issues it's a 5 star place - great location too

This was by far the best pub we visited during our trip to the Lakes. We came here for lunch on a Saturday. The food was SO GOOD. I had the sausage ciabatta, my partner had the lasagne and were were both very impressed. The staff were super friendly as well. Definitely recommend a visit!

We visited this pub last weekend, it was just outside our campsite. We thought we would give it a try but didn't expect much as being vegan there is usually only 1 option.This place has an amazing selection the best I've seen outside specific vegan places I have been to. The food was amazing as were the staff. Its not just vegan food of course the cater for everyone and it was busy so obviously a go to place for locals. So good we went back on Sunday afternoon and had a great experience again!!

I usually don't write reviews on google but decided to leave one for this pub because it was absolutely outstanding! The food portions were ginormous and super super tasty. The staff was very friendly and quick. We had a fantastic dinner here, 10 out of 10. Thanks!
