The Waverley Hotel in Copeland

Great little bar, great friendly atmosphere and a good pint. Always worth a visit.

Over priced and filthy in the public areas would not bother there are much better places dotted around the town

The waverley was great, we has a great time, the meal was great and the portions were huge as we didn't manage to finish everything but it was delicious, I would recommend the waverley for a good meal.

A great family run hotel. The room was clean, comfortable and exactly as expected. The hotel is not a modern, which suited us fine, however has all the amenities needed. They allow pets too. Well worth a visit. We will definitely go back.

Staff and breakfast very good standard. It's a 300 year old building so to get a good room standard is challenging, all the same it was a bit spartan and the bathroom could have been tidier ( half used soap with previous occupants hair stuck to it left on the bath). Also on site parking very limited for the modern larger vehicles. Having said that very reasonable value for money.

The Waverley is renowned for great food at low prices. It is a traditional eating house with the best beer, and an atmosphere, an ambience, which cannot be beaten. If this charming hostelry was in London, you would have to book two weeks in advance. Don't leave Whitehaven without sampling its old world charm.

We didn't stop at the hotel, so I can't comment about the accommodation. Just went for a meal. The staff are nice and made us feel welcome. The menu is nice and varied and the food was generous, without being mass produced. Nice staff, tasty food, reasonably priced. What more could you ask for?
