Had cause to visit recently as my daughters formal graduation was at the Cathedral next door. The service was second to none and beer good - they were busy. Unfortunately I can't give more than two for a £5.95 boiled ham sandwich. I would like to think it's wasn't bought in sliced however I suspect so, unless the cook has a very sharp knife.

Absolutely beautiful old hotel. The internet was terrible in the rooms but I really can't complain. The building was ancient. But in a good way. It felt like walking back in time... to a better time. The hallways were luxurious. The grand stair case was amazing! The beds were comfortable as well! Loved all of the little details put into the place. Even an old fashion drawing room. The location was perfect for Carlisle. I don't think a better location exists in the town!

Decent hotel but with a few issues.I thought the Crown & Mitre was well located in Carlisle, with friendly reception staff and a good breakfast spread. We had a nice view of Carlisle Cathedral just outside our room. If you have a car, remember to put in the postcode they send you to get to the car park! You will have issues if you just try and find it via searching for the hotel on Google maps etc.I thought our room was a bit disappointing though. It was quite tired looking, with a small bathroom and was also a bit dusty too. The beds weren’t very supportive and the pillows they gave you were very thin. The pool was unfortunately out of action when we were there.Overall a good hotel but a bit let down by the room.

Nice hotel and great service, I emailed ahead for an accessible room and was upgraded free to a room with a large bathroom. Staff were friendly. Loads of disabled parking right outside the front door. However be warned if you use the hotel car park the ramp down the steps is at an insane angle! Also the lift is small Im not sure if you’d get an electric chair in there.

This is a lovely hotel and a perfect location. If you want to park do phone first for the car park post code as it's hard to find and located round the back. We googled it first and found it without problem but would have really struggled if we didn't do research first. Only issue with the hotel is it's not well sound proofed so you will hear your neighbours above, below or either side. Will definitely stay again though. It's very dog friendly and our little border terrier enjoyed her stay too

The hotel is perfectly sited in the centre opening out onto the market place, we were attending a dance break weekend, the room was adequate but cold, and even colder in the bathroom, tried swithching on the towel rail but no go.The food provided for breakfast and evening meal was well presented and very tasty. There was wifi provided but as soon as we entered our room it was non existant but the dancing was fantastic

Reported but had no reply from hotel.Stayed here for works Christmas function. We paid for an ungraded room. The window was very dirty the nets curtains were badly torn. The bath was so old and worn we didn't use it. The plug was full of mould the shower was hanging off the wall. The room was so old and dated. I have upload some of the photos we took.

This was a business stay with an early start over 3 days so I would have preferred a quieter room rather than one overlooking the kitchen. Nevertheless, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was a good size and very clean and comfortable. As I was making early start each day, it would have been better if breakfast advertised as 7am actually started then rather than the buffet being brought out at around 7.15.

Beautiful old hotel with bags of character. Room clean and comfy. Friendly attentive staff. Nice small pool and jacuzzi to relax in. Excellent all-you-can-eat breakfast. The only minor quibble is that due to the age of the building the floorboards in the corridors all creak so, as a light sleeper, I heard the night porter every time he went past on his security rounds!

Very satisfied with my stay at this hotel. Rooms were clean and modern. Held a good temperature. Breakfast very good and the bar was a pleasant place in the evening. The building is very old l, but looked in good order. Staff were friendly and efficient in the whole.
