"The Horse and Farrier which for centuries has been welcoming customers lies just off the A66 to the East of Keswick under spectacular Blencathera. Recently refurbished on both the ground floor and in the bedrooms it has retain the quirky charm of this old building whilst bringing the facilities up to the standards expected in the 21st century. With highly rated food – ample parking – immediate access to wonderful walks and welcoming dogs in the bar areas this is a must for locals and visitors alike. The spectacular scenery can be enjoyed from within the Inn or better still on the alfresco dining area. Enjoy local beers, highly rated food, locally sourced ingredients and great service."

We were in the area for a little holiday and were wondering where to have lunch. After calling few places and were told they didn't have any table available we come across Horse and Farrier. And what a treat we were for. The place is amazing with lovely decor and view. But the food was over the top. Not only it come after few minutes since we ordered but it was amazing too. We have been to a few places around on out holiday but the food here was far more delicious than any other place. Usually I never write reviews but that place is worth the time to write one. And please whoever come across it on Google do not hesitate but go there it is a MUST!!!

We had a lovely time here for lunch. The staff were extremely pleasant and they were super accomodating in providing a high chair for our 9 month old. Food was class. Beer was good quality. Views were nice. Lovely place to go after a visit to Ullswater, thank you!

I’ve been to the Horse and Farrier a few times now and the food is absolutely brilliant. I had the beef Sunday roast and it was all cooked to perfection. Also, the caramel profiteroles were to die for! Highly recommend coming here

Excellent food, with both soup/sandwich and heartier (including a delicious lamb shank) options. Friendly staff who are knowledgeable about allergies and who provided great service. A cozy, historic and cheery atmosphere. Dog friendly.

Visiting my daughter who found this great pub while out running. Booked for Sunday lunch. The pub was quite busy with, walkers, families, visiting tourists and local trade.Good selection of 4 cask ales us a reanice menu with everything very reasonable priced. We had the sharing seafood platter to start which was fresh and a good portion followed by roast topside of beef which was superbThe staff were very helpful and attentive.I hope everyone who visits has the same experience as us

Fantastic service, fantastic beer, fantastic food. 10 stars worth, not 5. Just remember to book in advance if you want food!

This is where the brown sign saying “18th Century Inn” leads you. Lovely pub with good real ales that will happily make you a takeaway carton.

Great food with substantial portions, it was flavoursome and I enjoyed it thoroughly. We hadn’t booked a table so where quite lucky they had a spare table as the place was very busy, the staff are great, very attentive and polite. Would definitely recommend
