The food was amazing, I had the scampi and I have to say it was probably the best I've ever had. Others in the group were also impressed with their food. The down sides are the restaurant area is slightly lacking in atmosphere although it is very clean and well furnished. The other downside was the door was slow but the quality of the food made up for it. I will definitely be back.

Great little find of a pub. Was a stop off on our way home from holiday and couldn't have picked much better. We had our dog with us, and he got treated as much of a patron than us with treats and his own water bowl brought to the table. We were also still seated in the main food area, not just in the bar area that you normally find. The children noticed a small play area out the back so they were happy. The staff member even shouted them in for us when the food was on the way. Would definitely stop off again if passing that way.

Nice atmosphere and the food was ok but it took about 1hr 20 before we even got our starters, and even then they forgot one,

Room lovely, warm and comfortable. Staff really friendly and helpful. A twin organised for my daughter and I as requested. Both breakfast and dinner were very nice. We'd definitely stay again!

This was my families first visit and on arrival we were warned that food may take a little time due to a staffing problem. After ordering we didn't notice as it came in a timely manner and was beautiful. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We will be visiting again.

Great place to stay overnight on the way from the Midlands to the boat at Cairnryan. Much better than being stuck in a city centre. Dogs welcome everywhere, inside and out. Don't forget to dodge the cowpats and sheep droppings when you walk through the nearby fields. Don't tell anyone but they stock a small selection of very good wines as well.

Short version:Nice log burner and a warm atmosphere.Tasty foodNice peopleWill return.Longer version:Can't rate the hospitality hear high enough. Literally nothing is too much bother. We went for Saturday lunch and the meal was of good quality. We had a slight issue with one meal but it was rectified without any fuss.Ale wasnt as fresh as it could be. Think I got one near the bottom of the barrel but that happens and it wasn't bad enough to stop me drinking it.

Fantastic food, staff very attentive and superb service, when sun is out the new seating area is really pleasant and also dog friendly - highly recommended

On freezing days and despite customers finding the pub to be cold, the landlady persistently refuses to light the fire on the grounds that she is warm! What can you say? Apparently nothing that will make her burn a few logs.

We were staying in the area for the week and this was by far the poorest meal we had out of all the local pubs. It's a shame as it's been done out really nicely and we expected better from the food but the chicken burger was dry, no option for cheese on the kids burger, batter on the kids chicken goujons was soggy and the kids brownies for pudding were tiny like the bite size ones you get from the supermarkets with a bit of ice cream on the top. No problems with the drinks but you can't go wrong with those really. We wouldn't go back for a meal would be happy to call in for drinks though, it's dog friendly too.
