Wow what a fantastic place, amazing location with unique styled rooms throughout the castle, the service could not have been better.All in all a beautiful weekend stay.

We spent four nights at the castle. It was utterly fabulous. Excellent accommodation, fantastic food, wonderful gardens and exceptional staff. We felt like we were in another world. We will be returning.

Overnight stay in this amazing castle. The setting is fabulous and the room we had in the main castle was beautiful. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Will certainly return if we are in the area again.

We called in here for afternoon tea on way to Carlisle. Nice people, good food. Can't comment on rooms as we didn't stay, but an interesting place, and will definitely look at staying here if we are up this way again.

Booked an afternoon tea for two. Traveled the two hours from Manchester. Arrived. Nobody there, no answer at the door, no answer on the phone. Drove off. Few minutes later got a call from a member of staff telling me that they had the builders in, that they couldn't accommodate, and that they had left a voice mail and sent an email a few days before. Checked voice mail and inbox. No voice mail message, no email. No return.

Had an amazing birthday weekend at an amazing castle. Attentive staff and very welcoming of dogs. Very relaxing and cosy environment. The castle itself was very authentic and the rooms where exceptionally comfortable. Thank you to all the team at Augill Castle for helping to make my 60th birthday even more special.

Had a wonderful time spent two nights there. Management and staff couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. Fabulous hotel loved the quirkyness of it. room was a good size with plenty of toiletries. Would recommend it to any age.

Cannot rate Augill Castle highly enough; we’d give it ten stars if we could! We have just returned from a three night stay over Christmas. It was a cosy, magical and truly unique experience from start to finish. The castle itself was stunning, atmospheric and beautifully decorated for the festive season, and our bedroom (Appleby) was warm and spacious with a gorgeous en-suite, armchairs, open fireplace and very comfortable bed. We had our two infants with us, and were provided with cots, sheets/blankets and a nappy bin in our room, along with children’s plates and cutlery laid out ready when we arrived for each meal. The owners and staff were incredibly welcoming, professional and accommodating; nothing was too much trouble for them and we were really made to feel at home (to the point that we felt able to leave our bedroom door unlocked, walk around the castle with our shoes off and curl up with a book on the sofa in the drawing room). Wendy in particular is lovely; she was so kind, a brilliant hostess and really looked after everyone. The food was superb - fresh, simple, homemade dishes that were cooked to perfection. Delicious breakfasts (best scrambled eggs I’ve ever tasted) and the Augill soup and treacle tart were to die for! We were struck by the attention to detail, from the personalised table cards to the surprise visit from Santa on Christmas Day and the presents he handed out to each guest. We’ve stayed in lots of hotels but this one definitely has the X-factor. It’s luxurious yet informal, and has an incredibly appealing charm and quirkiness. Would highly recommend it to anyone. Our stay was absolutely faultless and everyone who works there should be very proud of themselves for doing such a fantastic job. Thank you so much for giving us all an incredible Christmas to remember!

An excellent hotel in the countryside. An outstanding experience in a comfortable place, with extra caring staff and a friendly and warm attention by the owner, Wendy. Definitely a place worth visiting in the lake district.
