We wanted to give our friend an unforgettable experience for his birthday and chose lunch at the renowed Seamill Hydro. We certainly did receive the unforgettable experience but for all the wrong reasons! The food is good but the staff are clueless and have no idea how to provide good customer service.1) Had to wait 15 minutes to order our starters and mains. For our desserts, we had to ask for the desserts menu and then had to ask again to order.2) After each course our cutlery was taken away but not replaced. So food arrived but we had no cutlery to eat it. Had to ask for cutlery.3) Empty glasses were left on the table. At one point there were so many empty glasses there was no room for our food. We had to ask for the empty glasses to be taken away.4) One member of our party ordered the Vegan tofu ramen noodles. When it arrived it had no tofu!! We raised it with the Manager? (guy in a suit) who then had to speak to the chef and on his return he advised that they had no tofu (supply problem!) so decided to substitute the tofu with cauliflower! We were not advised at the time we ordered that they had no tofu and also was not asked if cauliflower would be an acceptable alternative. Pretty shocking when restaurants have to be very careful with people with allergies. What really summed up our whole experience was the response by the Manager when he advised my friend there was no tofu. His response to my friend was "what do you want to do"?!! And with no apology offered.5) The restaurant was not short staffed. In fact, some of the staff had time to gather in corners to have a chat and a laugh, whilst the staff that were not work shy were running around trying to serve customers. The Manager was no where to be seen!Clearly the staff at this restaurant have not had any training in basic customer service and any desire to provide an acceptable customer experience.Whilst the food was good, the customer service was so poor we will not be back and certainly would not recommend The Orangery to friends.

The starter was delicious and wonderfully presentedHowever it all went down hill from then. The table service by the wait staff was abysmal. We had to ask for so many things, eg, the table to be cleared of empty glasses, cutlery for the meals, the desert menu..For the main I ordered the vegan ramen of which tofu was a key ingredient. The dish was served but I couldn't see any tofu at all. After asking the manager, and him checking in the kitchen, I was told they had no tofu and had substituted with cauliflower...without telling me. The chef clearly hadn't told the staff either. This in itself is really bad. Would they have substituted someone's fish order with chicken without telling them??The manager then asked me 'what do you want to do', and no apology was offered for serving me a dish that did not include a main listed ingredient.I ordered another meal which was served to me in an extremely hot plate and I had to use a napkin to position the plate to eat from. I would have burned my hand if I had attempted to hold the plate. The staff were clearly inexperienced and did not clear the table in a professional manner. I was worried that a plate would be dropped in my lap.It really is a pity to give this restaurant such a poor review as the food was delicious but the service was terrible and the staff couldn't have been less attentive. There also didn't seem to be anyone managing how the tables were being attended and the staff looked really disorganised. The staff looked very young and some in their teens. I would not expect a restaurant serving such lovely food to be run by staff who clearly don't understand how tables and diners should be attended. The service is just as important as the quality of the food, and my experience was very disappointing

Busy and bright restaurant with lots of hardworking staff. The chips were the best I've had, I'll definitely be back with the family!

The Orangery Restaurant has amazing friendly staff, that were very kind and helpful during our visit. The time of it took us from ordering to receiving our food was perfect, didn't need to wait too long for it and the food itself was amazing, the fruit for my starter was nice, fresh and ripe and as for my main it was cooked perfectly. Now as for the view on a perfect sunny day, like the day we booked for was stunning, and very relaxing. As for the pricing for the meal, I would say you are definitely getting your moneys worth for what you get and for where you are. Highly recommend going whenever you're in the area.

This restaurant has some very lovely staff. The food is good and the portions are generous. The ambience is great and you have a view to the sea.The show stealer for me was the dessert, we tried a couple (brownie and hot chocolate fudge), both melted in our mouths and were moist. Thanks for a lovely meal folks

Enjoyed a window table as requested and ordered both types of afternoon tea. Service was prompt and attentive when we arrived 3:30 and recieved the sandwiches and tea quickly after our drinks order however more than an hour and half later we had to ask for the cake stands and additional tea. Great as they weren't rushing us off the table but staff seemed to have a change over and obviously no one allocated to look after you once previous staff had left. Appreciate staff may be new and in training however there was plenty suit and tie staff over- seeing the restaurant and they should know the protocol!!!!

Really nice views and choice in the menu. One of the only restaurants into the area which has a separate veggie/vegan menu. I think I managed to pick the worst in the menu - tomato ragu with carrot spaghetti(which was actually just cut up carrot.. the dish really didn't have much flavour and was completely different to what I pictured in my head (spaghetti ). Next time defineltly trying out something else from the veggie menu, as other options looked better! (Skip the first choice)

The view is spectacular and food excellent, great value for money. It just lacks professionalism when the staff are standing about gossiping and consequently are inattentive and slow. But a comfortable good experience in delightful surroundings. Then a second visit confirmed. The food was good, brought low by the sheer numbers of inattentive staff standing in groups chattering away to each other and ignoring customers. Our table and the two next to us fought to catch the eye of any member of staff. Aside from the serving staff, there were more staff members in dark suits hiding in the corridor chatting to each other. I have never seen such an over staffed, inattentive restaurant. Hence the low satisfaction rating.

Stayed at Seamill Hydro for the weekend and ate dinner in the Orangery both nights. The food was outstanding - pate, prawn cocktail, mixed grill and fish & chips. We are fans of Crieff Hydro too but the food here is far superior.
