A charming old-world hotel with a welcoming staff and enviable views of the North Sea. Every time we travel to the U.K. we make sure we spend time at the Historic Royal Hotel.

Wonderful night at the Royal, a gift for my husband for his 81st Birthday. Food was great, so was the drink. Both had a great time. Thsnk you everyone. Xxx

Been there many times, food and service does not disappoint. Menu is varied with a few vegetarian options. Hotel is decent with a few rooms having a view over the sea. Function rooms are very good for family gatherings, and the buffets they offer for those gatherings are very good.

Have not stayed here but have eaten on a few occasions. Staff are always really friendly, unrivaled position with great sea views. Food is always OK no more than that but the staff and views keep us going back.

Rooms are getting a little tired and could do with a refresh. Old building so soundproofing very poor and nights were disturbed with neighbours moving around. Views are great, if you get a seaview room of course. Staff friendly. No room maid service due to COVID which is a shame and you have to request items that would normally be done/sorted/changed/replaced as part of the room being made up...but price of rooms means the negatives can be ignored as on balance a great place to stay.

Went for a late lunch and enjoyed freshly made sandwiches in a lovely position on the seafront. My Coffee was terrible, but was swiftly dealt with. Friendly staff. Recommended.

Stayed in a superior room, very spacious and comfortable and clean. Right on the sea front, a stone's throw from the high street. Lovely hotel, lots of choices for breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Have been 3 times before. Will definitely return.

We booked their large function room for a family gathering on a Sunday. The staff were very helpful and accommodating in booking, food ordering, and on the day. The room was great - lots of space for the toddlers to run round. Smaller meals available for small appetites. Children's meals were wolfed down and the puddings gave them an extra boost of energy for the afternoon. A great place for a family event.

We throughly enjoyed our stay here. 3 nights. Fabulous large room and en suite, loads of hot water , great bath. Twin sinks. Really lovely huge bed, so comfortable as were the pillows. The building is very old and a little tired in places, but the service is second to none. Brilliant staff. Lovely chamber maids. Great breakfast, wonderful coffee. Nice beer. The building stands right by the sea. The carpark is relatively cheap too. A little bit of paint here and there is needed. But its a lovely building.
