New menu! , staff very attentive and service excellent. As walk in, early Saturday evening not crowded, though the pub started to fill up as when we were leaving. We've enjoyed the experience

Never visited this place before, watch the low ceiling! Wonderful food and drink, and just look at this desert, artistically presented and delicious. I can see why this venue has stood the test of time.

A fabulous Sunday lunch, with massive portions, we shouldn't have had starters but they were lovely too. I almost eat myself to sleep! Great service with a smile.

What an absolute shambles.King prawn starter (apparently) straight out of an Iceland bag of prawns under cold water. Flavourless, pale and soggy. Lettuce was brown around some edges and the Marie sauce was so bland. Best thing about the starter was the added salt. The main, belly pork and scallops. Belly pork was overdone and chewy, scallops were over done and awfully rubbery. Jus was OK and the veg was a soggy mess.£7.25 for the starter and £19.95 for the main. Yes £7.25 for a bag of prawns from Iceland and brown lettuce.Absolute joke. Yuk and never again.

Fish and chips nothing to rave about. It is an unique cosy setting. Lovely fire. Some strange signage about like telling us to wash our hands after being in the toilet and another sign to tell that there are steps in front of the steps!!

Came here for dinner earlier on in the week. Had table service from such a lovely member of staff (I wish I knew your name so I could include it in this review, but you were very understanding of my pregnancy chocolate craving!!). Starters and mains were excellent, my partner enjoyed his wine and I had the house cherry soda which was gorgeous and definitely recommend to anyone who can’t drink alcohol, so refreshing. Only downfall was the scallops cost £4 extra onto the Pork Belly main but they are quite small and you are not given many. Despite that, have been going to the Travellers Rest for many years and the food has really improved. Setting is lovely, staff are great even when busy. Thank you we will be back soon!!

Was freezing there to the point we had to go to our car and get our coats, we asked if we could move because of the draft and the manager said no and stated that it was a 500 year old building. I booked this restaurant for 2 family members birthdays and they didn’t even move us when we was freezing! Birthday meal was completely ruined from the managers attitude put a damper on the night, there was empty tables everywhere and they still wouldn’t move us, there was an empty table of 6 by the fire and it was empty the whole duration we was there 5-7pm, my pizza was undercooked, lovely waitress was the only positive thing about this place. Not returning here

Absolutely amazing food, great selection of food too with great service from staff, who are very friendly. Highly recommend this place. It's beautiful both outside and inside with log fires which makes it really homely. Thankyou for a lovely experience! Will definitely be coming back soon.

5 star prices but food is poor. 3 diners and we all had different and none of us felt it was value for money or good quality. No covid checks or restrictions in place. Very disappointed. Ivy prices but burger king quality

Beautiful atmosphere, large open fire and dog friendly. Plenty of beer on tap, including local ale. Menu is packed with choices to suit all the family. Outside dining, ample parking available. And a warm and friendly welcome awaiting 😊
