Tufton Arms Hotel in Eden

We stayed here for one night - Saturday to Sunday over the weekend and were very pleasantly surprised by everything about the hotel - the room was extremely spacious, clean and nicely decorated with a good view over the centre of the town. The breakfast couldn't have been any better and the location of the hotel was brilliant - right in the centre of Appleby with a short walk to all the shops, cafes, the river and cricket ground. It was also good value for the night and I would definitely recommend.

I stayed in one of the apartments to the rear of the hotel, which was nice and quiet and private, the staff were all lovely and helpful, Even brought an ice bucket and fresh milk without me having to ask. The apartment was modern, clean, tidy and nicely decorated throughout, with Molton Brown toiletries, and parking right outside the front door! (the only thing I could add to this would be some fresh flowers) Great value for money and a a lovely stay and woke up feeling refreshed

Small service details and ambience were not up to standard expected. No music, light bulbs out in bar, slow food service on first sitting of dinner, check back did not offer confident assurance of ingredients. Could all be improved in small but significant ways.

We were in one of the self-catering rooms directly behind the hotel, which was to our liking,plenty space, clean and tidy.Parking can be a problem at time, we were able to park outside every day.Location is perfect

The food was delicious. The service was second to none. The atmosphere was perfect for friends to sit comfortably and reminisce. All in surroundings elegant and historical. Could not be bettered. Very high recommendation.

The Tufton is a lovely feature of Appleby. We stopped off for lunch. The sandwiches were excellent and presented well. Always nice to revisit.

Had a meal last night for a friends birthday. It seemes a little expensive looking at the menu but after seeing and tasting the food i think it was well worth its money. Very good food. Lovely and clean and warm. So pleased we went there.

Ate at the restaurant yesterday with no expectations set. Food was so good! A fine dining experience. Husband had honey glazed warm figs with Gorgonzola, rocket and radicchio - delicious! I had plaice on the bone as my main - perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce, served with spinach and potato. Service excellent too. I highly recommend this restaurant..

Great location and delicious breakfast with many different options! The room was OK, with a nice view over the main square. However, neither the shower nor the hairdryer in the room work properly and it was a bit frustrating. Furthermore, although I appreciate masks are not mandatory anymore in England, there was a sign in the hall clearly saying “you must wear a mask” but nobody was wear it (except for a couple of people of the staff working in the breakfast room). We did not particularly like this aspect. Overall, attention to detail and safety could be improved.

Had a lovely 2 night break. The staff were all friendly and the rooms clean. The bathroom looked new. The hotel is old and has creaking floors but that just adds to its charm. Our room #10 was at the front of the hotel. It has a large window letting plenty of light in. The bed was so comfortable we had 2 great nights sleep. The furniture was dated but it was in keeping with the character of the hotel.We had a drink in the bar which wasn't over priced. Breakfast was hot and plentiful. 1st morning we had the full English, eggs, sausage bacon, mushrooms, beans and black pudding. Great choice if you didn't want a full English. Sour dough bread with salmon and scrambled eggs was a lovely light breakfast on our 2nd morning.
