Had a fantastic time at the castle the place is absolutely fantastic beautiful gardens and views across the waters, peter and Yvonne were very welcoming and made our stay very comfortable a place to definitely go back to plenty to see and a lovely stress free weekend will definitely be back soon 😀 😊 ☺ 😄

Beautiful little pub. Meal was lovely although only had soup and sandwich. Friendly staff. Lovely castle ruins enter for price of a drink. Views of all of Halton are great.

·

Nice quiet pub great location travel a quiet Drink. Good for kids also as the top area is completly fenced off making sure it's safe serves food also but I haven't eaten here personally yet

·

Truly unique place to grab a pint and fill up on some home made food. A fantastic beer garden sat within 13th century ruins, with views as far as Wales, Liverpool, Manchester and the Peak district, and a cosy friendly pub set within a historic courthouse. Guaranteed you won't find that anywhere else but Halton!

One of the most interesting lunchtime pubs I've visited due to its old-world decor & ambiance, spectacular location, the historical ancient ruins accessible through the pub, friendly staff, open fire, & Timothy Tailor beer. I have not eaten there.

Had the Steak Pie and Chips with veg and gravy 😋 lovely big chunks of tender steak in a hand shaped pie crust, served with proper big chunky chips. Lived in Liverpool since birth and didn't know about this place, will definitely return. The location/views are stunning!!

Set on the hill in Halton village Runcorn, this impressive and old inn projects a very atmospheric feeling; having been recently renovated in a stylish way, Charlie James and team welcomed us with friendly and warm service and DELICIOUS food and clever cocktails!HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Completely different every time I go, depending on who is currently running the place. Last time I went I was upstairs watching a band and it wasn't to bad at all. But the time before that I was downstairs and it absolutely stunk, and was filthy. As this place has changed hands a lot there's no telling if it's going to nice or scummy when you arrive.

Called here today for lunch and we weren't disappointed. The Fish and Chips were beautiful and the beer also was of a high standard. If the rest of the food is of a similar standard to the Fish and Chips then we will certainly be back in the near future. The staff were friendly and helpful.
