A bit of a hidden gem this one to be honest. We stopped here after our flight landed at teatime at LPL Airport. We were worried as it was a Greene King pub and thought it would be chain-like food but we were pleasantly surprised.Really good food and a vast choice of options on the menu. Excellent service as well from the barman/waiter who went above and beyond for us and our little one.

3* based on personal preference of drinks available and no food being served past 8pm. You may like their drink options? If I did, I would have gone for 4*, maybe 5*.Monday night, 8:30pm - a few drinks with mates.Friendly and welcoming staff. Clean and tidy. A few TVs, quiet music in the background... all okay. Small bar area with some tables & chairs. There is a second, small bar area with a Dart Board.Beer choices - We like Ales... there was John Smith's and a Brew Dog Pale Ale (Also Guinness). For a Greene King Pub I would have expected better options (Abbott Ale, IPA etc). There was an Aspalls Cider and some Lager, as well as some bottles in the fridge, but we're not Lager drinkers. Disappointing options. We asked about food, they stopped serving at 8pm. We just wanted a quick bite. We understood that it is a pub and not really a restaurant, and a Monday night, but we were surprised. The website did not mention times that they serve food.We might return to sample the food (obviously before 8pm!) but I would not come for a drink again.

Lovely food and a nice pub in general. The big elephant in the room is parking charges. I randomly visited the pub for a bight to eat and a couple of drinks with the family, over all a great afternoon. A week later i get a letter through my door saying I have been fined £100 for not paying the parking fee on site?? I was flabbergasted. I drove round to the pub and there are a few tiny signs saying, pay your parking fee etc . I think it's scandalous that I have to pay to park my car to spend money at any public house. Anyone with a car be warned. Parking is only a pound but that's more of a token gesture to snare unaware drivers like myself into the hands of Countrywide parking management ANPR cameras and ultimately a fine . I certainly won't be coming back again and will take my custom and spend my money elsewhere.

Visited for Sunday dinner which was lovely. They forgot 2 desserts and had to be reminded, they said they were busy. Went a few weeks ago and a bottle of house white was £10.95, today its gone up to £18.75, no wine list available whenever I've asked for one.

Rang to see if it was dog friendly . It is .water supplied for my little dog .He slept and was so quiet the poor guy serving forgot he was there and was mortified when he stood on him .no damage done . The pork and apple sausages were to die for as was.the beautifull mash and mushy peas .lovely atmosphere .plenty of parking . Realy enjoyable lunch .

I visited the Eagle and Child about two weeks ago with my family for our Sunday dinner. The pub itself has undergone a massive refurbishment and the outside area has also been improved. There's a large car park and allocated spaces near to the entrances for customers with disabilities. As a patron in a vehicle, you have to enter your registration number at the bar as there is a fine system in operation to avoid non guests from parking on site. The inside of the bar is nicely decorated and has kept a lot of the features of the old coach house dating back to C1839.The restaurant was busy on the Sunday evening we visited and I would recommend a reservation to ensure your dining experience.Once seated at our table, we were given menus and our waiter, Matt took our orders. The floor staff were very attentive without being overbearing and our food arrived quickly. The Sunday menu was mainly Roast dinner and although it wasn't going to be my first choice, my god, it didn't disappoint.Unlike the queue up and load up style of carveries in a lot of pubs these days, this was excellent.Presented on a large plate, piping hot, with plenty of meat, vegetables and Yorkshire pudding, oh, and a separate board of side dishes including cauliflower cheese and gravy. The meal was a great combination of flavours.I don't normally go for a sweet course after a large dinner but on this occasion, I decided to push the boat out.Once again, I demolished the plate and thoroughly enjoyed it.The pub was great, the staff were great and the food was great but don't take my word for it, book a table for yourself and give it a go. Food as always was exceptional. Service was again as always brilliant. The waiter we had called Danny was so attentive and helpful.
