This place was a well known chippy for quality back in the day when the family had it for decades but after having a chippy tea that I threw in the bin I now see why everyone is saying that the new management has ruined it. Such a pity that a once great chippy is now one of the worst in huyton

Lovely food don't wait for meals good fast service. Staff are pleasant and friendly yet super busy.

Last time I was here was before it was under new management but I might as well say what I have to say, the food was great and tasty to an aspect. The fishcake and cod were good but the sausage dinners could be improved. The food is also warm when opening the wrapping which makes it much faster to go cold. Also if you go in without phoning up to book your order first you are guaranteed a wait of a minimum of 15 minutes even when it’s not busy. But this is a chippy and the taste is more important so overall it’s great.

Just had an amazing beef curry and fried rice and a huge portion of chips , The beef was very tender and so much of it . The Golden Star is spotlessly clean and only waited a few mins for my meal . The staff are well presented and very polite ! Many thanks and I will be returning.

Need a lesson in frying! Possibly the worst fish & chips I've had. Totally anaemic & soggy. The wrapping paper was the only thing remotely crispy.

Really nice, tasty hot food. Great menu with lots to choose from. Havent had anything from here that was not top notch. Would recommend.

Love this chippy. Been twice now and food is lovely. Fish lightly battered and you can taste the fish. Chips always fresh and my daughter loves the sausage and nuggets from there.
