Brief Encounter Refreshment Room in Lancaster

If you're a film buff you would know this was the setting for most of David Lean's classic film Brief Encounter.Based in Carnforth Station it still has most of its original items from the 1940s.The cafe and tea room can be accessed either from the platform or the Heritage Centre.A good selection of food and drinks and friendly and helpful staff. Great spot. Full of nostalgia and a very enticing menu. I had already eaten but I forced some treacle tart down. Lovely. Also, I watched some brief encounter in the little cinema.

I have ordered two cakes and one has been served to me like this by cutting the tip because the waitress says it was very big. Learned the lesson not to return.

Such a beautiful journey back in time. Cakes were lovely too!

A group of us were lucky enough to have breakfast here this morning.. it was great. I was not expecting this at all, what a surprise. I'm a bit of an old trainspotter admittedly after spending my school days underlining numbers in Ian Allen's loco shed book.The refreshments room is famous for being the location for "Brief Encounter". There is a great bar, espresso machine, cake plus a fabulous breakfast menu.This experience rates alongside my visit to "Le Train Blue" in Gare de Lyon a couple of weeks ago.The keen and outstanding freckled bar maiden was amazingly busy giving top class service. She will go far. Breakfast was wonderful and generous as well as very good value for money.

In carnforth railway station if your into trains , it an musicem on site too ,I've been many times before ,check opening times

Stopped by for lunch and look around the station and heritage centre. The refreshment room is lovely, suitably vintage/Brief Encounter-themed and serves an excellent range of drinks. For lunch I had the pie of the day which was homemade and delicious. Friendly, very welcoming, staff as well.

We really enjoyed our visit; good price, good quality, good service and good 'facilities'. Nice to have some breathing space between tables, unlike many tea rooms/cafes. Will return without a doubt.

We were told how nice the food was. So we had to visit. Great food and nice pleasant staff. Very welcoming on arrival.Cafe clean and tidy.Pie and mash was so tasty.Soup was so thick with a lovely warm bun. Mmm. Plenty tables well spaced.Cake selection is too good.Ample parking near cafe.And you can catch movie on YouTube.No CLOCK AT STATION... why?5 from me.

Very pleasant cafe and staff. Good food at a good price.
