Countrystyle Kitchen in Lancaster

We enjoyed a family lunch here last week. I was a bit put off by my first impression which was that of a canteen but we chose the carvery and were very pleasantly surprised because it was delicious! We had no room for a dessert. The staff were helpful and friendly and the overall experience was very good.

The carvery is one of the best I've had, the beef was cooked to perfection and the red cabbage was fantastic. Can fill a little closed in at times when it's busy as the tables are quite close together in certain parts of the restaurant. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. I have found if I have ordered off of the main menu it can be hit or miss if it comes out hot. Overall I like to visit this restaurant for its carvery every time I visit Lancaster.

1st impressions were looking a bit tatty. Menus were falling apart and were dirty. The bacon was tough, tasteless and greasy, nearly as much fat as there was bacon. My son couldn't eat his bacon sandwich (made him feel sick), even though I tried to take a lot of the fat off. Tuna sandwich was mixed with vinegar and not proper tuna mayo. But waitress kindly did swop this for scrambled eggs. Very little available for vegetarians. Very nice staff and the coffee was really good. But doubtful we'll be going back again.

Had steak and it was gorgeous. My partner had the carvery and he thoroughly enjoyed that.The staff are helpful very polite and so very friendly.We're sure to be going again very soon.

Very worthwhile area to visit for meat, wine and other accompaniments.Very nice café on site also.

We were seated next to the window for a little view which was a good start. Then ordered the mixed grill it was absolutely delicious, the steak how I wanted it Plus the best selection of meats to make the mixed grill. Really friendly staff who deserved a tip. Can't wait to go again!

Delicious food, well cooked. The carvery is always 'spot on' with 4 tender meat choices and an ample array of vegetables and accompaniments. The menu has a wide choice of meals, from snacks to dinners, and the sweets are divine. The restaurant has a warm environment with comfortable seating. No wonder it's so popular.

Excellent food but shame the decor is a little drab.The staff were helpful and friendly. food was served reasonably quickly. The menu choices are also pretty good.Loads of parking but as with everything else in the area is that it's quite far from anything else.Would return!

Very helpful and knowledgeable butchers. Great quality meat at very good prices. Highly recommended. Plus you can get unusual products there too. Got Hare and Pheasant today, going back next week for goat.

Good food, great service. They catered well for our little nieces birthday, and made an extra special desert for her and her little sister, and sang happy birthday to her too. The staff work hard both in the kitchen and on the restaurant floor. The quality of food is fresh and you can taste this. A good choice to choose from, and the price is reasonable. Would recommend booking a table in advance as this place is always busy.
