We had high hopes for this hotel as we were there for a wedding. However, the staff are rude, they do not want to help and they are not knowledgable. The website is out of date, so the parking for £5 per stay does not apply and staff could not tell us where to park. When we checked in, the welcome was not warm. It was very matter of fact and they went straight to asking for money. They did not explain the security deposit, but demanded it with prior explanation. Staff at breakfast were rude and unwelcoming. The food was average, and very inconsistent over the three days we stayed. The best thing was the pot of tea. The rooms are dated and not overly clean, the towels were also stained and grimy. The lady at reception when we checked out was absolutely lovely though. Wish she'd been around all weekend. Would not recommend and would not stay again.

Totally underwhelmed by our stay here.Room was clean but that's all you can say. The fittings in the bathroom were broken shower didn't work. Know hotel was going through refurbishment but room for price wasn't fit to let. Staff were pleasant but booking was not on system had to wait over 1hour to get to room.

We walked past it three times before realising it was hidden behind scaffolding. When we tried to check in the receptionist snapped " Check-ins at two o'clock".Our room was ok, but dark and not over large. Loved the old lift and Breakfast was absolutely lovely.

Very helpful, welcoming staff. Some rooms a bit basic and tired but do the job for the money. Great location. No parking but Dallas road nearby was fine.

Nicely situated (it's biggest asset), our bedroom was newly decorated but dark. Facing the busy road it was noisy at night. We didn't eat here at all so can't comment on the food. Amenities very standard but adequate. The old fashioned lift didn't always work!

It could be an absolutely great hotel, as it has an amazing history, fantastic location and the staff is so-so friendly and helpful! However, I don't know if it's a common English way (first time in an English hotel during winter period), that in winter there is heating only in the morning and in the evening, but totally nothing during the day..., so we had some extremely freezing days when we were waiting for our covid tests' results..., in Europe I have never met this kind heating method..., and I do not want to try it again...

I was delighted that we managed to get three nights last minute at this hotel after Covid case meant we couldn't stay with family. We had a room on the top floor and electric heaters helped to keep the cold away. Felicity and Jennifer were the most helpful staff on our visit. However, there were parts of the hotel that looked a bit run down, one of the bed sheets was a bit torn, housekeeping didn't change our drinking cups when we asked and I had to report some maintenance issues too. I know the hotel didn't have a chef when we were there (again because of Covid) but I'm not sure what the situation was with the Brasserie and the Crypt in terms of eating and drinking there, it was never explained. Royal Kings Hotel could be a wonderful place to be in future but it looks like it is going through a refurbishment. I hope to go back in a few years and see what has changed.

Had a really nice stay here! Lass on reception found my booking no trouble on check-in. Explained about the vintage elevator and not to leave the doors open after getting out. I had a good night's sleep and checkout was painless. Place was clean and the shower was hot. The closest to a problem I had was when I was stood waiting for said vintage elevator and it was already there.

Great value for money. The room was very clean and adequately equipped. We had a lovely window view of the castle. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Special mention goes to the breakfast chef who prepared our veggie cooked breakfast this Sunday morning. It was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented!
