I came in with my mum at the beginning of the week. We had a lovely dinner, a lovely guy called Dan served us, I have a number of allergies and he went though everything with me and made sure I was comfortable which I really appreciated. The pizza my mum had looked fantastic. Overall it’s a lovely pub with friendly staff

Popped in on Easter Sunday without booking. The staff member that greeted us was fantastic and made sure we got a table for 5.Roast beef Sunday dinners and as two didn't like beef and the lamb and turkey were sold out they offered to cook chicken for them. BrilliantFood was piping hot , delicious and extremely generous helpings.Fab interior too

First time I have been here for years and what a change light and airy very welcoming pleasant staff the menu isn't vast, but big enough choice I had the fish and chips with the northern upgrade ( bread and butter) the meal was well presented and tasted good we followed this with the apple crumble and custard you can't beat custard which was spot onWould I return to the the Boot and shoe the answer is definitely.

Food was good, but service was slow.Don't seem to have enough staff to cover the bar area and dining area, don't know if this was due to illness or is normal. The staff that were working were friendly enough.I would eat here again but possibly pick a quieter time

We had a lovely family meal here. The popcorn cauliflower was a highlight and my pizza was perfect. A nice setting and friendly staff.

I really enjoyed our visit to the Boot and Shoe. The staff were really welcoming and the menu choice was excellent. The pub also boasts a proper pizza oven with handmade pizzas available. The beer was lovely and wife enjoyed the selection of gins.

Okay... Only 2 serving staff when we visited. Had to ask twice (10 minutes apart) for drinks. Food was standard pub fare, but small portions for price paid... especially the pie. Staff were friendly and trying their best... It wasn't busy, but too busy for only 2. A shame as this used to be a good pub.The manager/ landlord visited the bar while we were there and then returned to living area after a few words... He didn't pitch in and help. All we heard him say to a member of staff was:" Oh well, that's the general public for you."

Enjoyed our meal here. It's a JW Lees pub so the beer is good with cask ales available. The menu was easy to choose from with a wide choice. The service was quick and the servers friendly and knowledgeable. When the order arrived it was hot and tasty.

Terrible experience. The food was nice but on the expensive side. Being picky my bread had been left out and was crusty on top piece. When I went to pay by card at the table by machine my card was declined. So my wife tried hers which was also declined. So thinking it was a problem with our bank I tried a credit card that covers over £10,000 credit and that was also declined. This was in front of lots of full tables. I was then asked to go to the bar and use the other machine. I told them the machine was the problem but was asked to try my cards again and I also tried another credit card. It was so embarrassing. Eventually the manager tried his own card before declaring the machine was faulty. Nobody seemed to understand how embarrassed we were. We ended up paying cash. Good job we had cash. But not impressed that the manager didn't trust us until his own case was declined. It's put up off visiting again for sure.

The best vegan options I've seen on any menu. I had the choice of four things and chose the banana blossom in batter with chips which was amazing. I've never tried it before, it had the texture of fish and I don't think many people would realise it wasn't cod. I was too full for a pudding but couldn't resist the vegan cheesecake with sorbet. Again it was amazing. It was light and so tasty. It was all very reasonably priced; it was great not paying over the odds for vegan food which was tasty and so well presented. I'll have to return to try all the other options.
