The Borough Hotel is a Lovely Hotel.Lovely and clean, central position. The staff go out of their way for you.Very professional attitude, with the running of the Hotel and the Restaurant. The food is lovely too, do book a table. We ate in the bar sitting area, as the huge area at the back just wasn't for us as we like quieter areas.Breakfast in the restaurant was lovely too.No skipping corners, attention to detail all the time. Can't wait to go back.Little parking bays outside, but pay and display and can't always get a place, do book a parking space for a couple of days on a website as we did.Do stay at the Borough, you will love it.Ask for Room 1.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!We were the first to arrive and waited for 1 hour and the food had still not arrived. Customers that came in after us had eaten their food already. We were told by one of the waitress that the beef had to be slow cooked and this is why it was taking so long, 10 mins later the manager then came over and told us they lost the order and it didn't reach the kitchen. The staff didn't even come over to check how we were doing. We decided to leave and go somewhere else where the service was much better. I've worked in hospitality for many years and I know it shouldn't be this poor. I will definitely not go to the Borough again and would not recommend it to anyone.

Amazing food and drink. Can be a little expensive but it's worth it. Amazing service and wonderful staff. I've heard the rooms are good also

A great hotel with comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Only issue with staying in a pub however is the cellar cooling systems. If we couldn't hear that intermittently throughout the night it would have been 5. Breakfast was very nice and service was great. Location is fantastic for walking into Lancaster and stumbling back after a few drinks!

Really enjoyed our family meal here. Impromptu visit to Lancaster for the day and decided to try this place. We were a walk-in booking, but staff managed to find us a table quickly and without any fuss. Drink orders came quickly and so did the food, which was piping hot. Great table service despite being very busy and lovely courteous staff. Worthy of five stars.

Delicious food, served hot and ample portions. Good menu choices and seasonal too. Service was excellent and everything was competitively priced. I would definitely eat there again.

Had our works Christmas meal here last week. There were 26 of us for a sit down meal and a few drinks. Have to say that although the pub was very full, the service was still excellent and the food was also very good. I have been in the borough many times and would recommend this venue.

2.5 stars really. This used to be a great place. Top quality beer brewed on site and delicious food. Now it's just OK. The beer is not great and the food overpriced for what you get. But the service, what is going on? To get my drinks order wrong, twice, and bring me a pint that is clearly not what I ordered, twice, then try to blame me? Come on.

Such a wonderful stay! The room was clean and the bed was massive as well as comfortable. Unfortunately, did not have the chance to have a drink at the pub, but judging from the amount of ales you can't go wrong. However, I was fortunate enough to experience the huge bathtub that we had in our room! The room number 5 is the one to go for!

Do not make the mistake of booking this venue for your Christmas dinner/social/party. As a university society we booked the Borough for our annual Christmas meal. Initially it was advertised as a 'buffet', which it is not. Each person was limited to two sandwiches, which I would not feed to my dog. The bread was soggy and the beef really chewy, not to mention all the food was cold. Although the initial price of £10.50 per person was agreed (which is excluding drinks), the manager attempted to charge us an extra £160 for vegan sandwiches they chose to make and nobody requested. This extra charge was not disclosed prior to booking. When I attempted to dispute the charge the woman serving us refused to deal with me. The manager was extremely rude and had terrible customer service skills. I would not recommend.
