The Old Bell Coffee House in Lancaster

Fantastic food and great service, we stopped for lunch at the Old Bell whilst visiting Lancaster on our holiday. There was a really good choice of food, our food was hot and very tasty and good value, we will definitely eat here again when we are in the city.

Lovely hidden cafe with a good range of sandwiches, toasties and jacket potatoes which were all reasonably priced. It's worth finding this hidden gem.

Visited last Thursday for lunch..my husband had the All day breakfast & pot of tea( excellent ) & I had the toasted roll with salad & cappuccino ( excellent )..the staff are always friendly & efficient and the cafe is always clean & tidy..everything you need for a most pleasant lunch.,

A lovely little find (and indeed it is a find - you have to wander down Bashful Alley, which is well-named because it likes to keep itself secret: look next to the Animalcare Shop in Market Street). The premises are quaint from the outside but comparatively modern on the inside. The menu is relatively well priced and extensive, not adventurous, but good basic food. The atmosphere was welcoming and smiley (very quiet on the day I was there) and the interior quite dimly lit, adding to the atmosphere. I ordered an all-day breakfast and cafetiere of coffee and they were served in no time - and very tasty! I will definitely search out this place next time I make a trip to Lancaster.

We have been to this place a number of times over the years and are never disappointed. Today we had a party of 5 and all had a combination of breakfast with different drinks. The food was of good quality and a decent portion, the drinks were gratefully received on a cold day. A lovely place to stay for a quick cuppa or a more substantial meal. Will be here again, and again....

Nice place for breakfast and coffee, in a quiet alley. The space is comfortable and the service is friendly and quick. The dishes we tried were tasty and the coffee was good enough. We tried fried eggs on toast and the salad with cottage, tuna and fruits, and although the salad sounds like a weird combination it was very good and big portion!

Lovely little café, amazing service!! They did my daughter's milkshake before we even ordered! Everyone was lovely & kind. They overheard my daughter saying she wanted a milkshake & got straight on to it. It's cash only & very tucked away, but it was perfect.

Went here for some breakfast... food was great and the cakes were amazing!! 5* to the generous portion of chocolate fudge cake!They keep all of the cakes in the fridge on display. It was quite busy in here when we went, nice atmosphere though. My only issue is that they only accept cash. I feel it is inconvenient and unsual for a cafe/restaurant not to accept - if anything it will only discourage people from walking in the door if they have no cash... especially when the food and staff are so nice.
