The Royal Hotel Heysham in Lancaster

We didn’t stay just called for Lunch on Easter Sunday . We have called here several times to eat and it never fails to disappoint . The attention to detailIs poor , perhaps they are too busy or like a lot of places struggling to employ kitchen staff .The place is superb a really outstanding location , the waiting staff are excellent . Never in your face but attentive never the less .My gripe is the quality of what they serve and the inconsistent nature of the food delivered . Perhaps the menu is too large , but on Easter Sunday I didn’t see a lamb roast on offer . Two of my party had the beef roast and it was missing roast potatoes and gravy , we had to ask for both and the waitress was obviously instructed to check if we had simply missed them under the Yorkshire pudding . The meal was akin to a school dinner , such a shame .I read other glowing reviews and wonder is it me but in the last 2 years we’ve been four times and each time there is an issue .In fairness to the Royal when points are raised there always addressed , I like the place but it’s desperately in need of somebody to take charge of the kitchen who understands the need to be consistent.

Stopped for lunch after walking the dog. Great food and very friendly staff. Lovely pub with lots of history and style. Sat outside under the marquee and found it very comfortable. A nice time had by all.

Went for lunch at the restaurant here, food was excellent and was served quickly enough even though it was busy. Staff were good. Building seemed clean and well presented. Toilets were clean too. Would visit again and we bought a gift card to give as a present because we liked it there

I called in at The Royal for coffee and a (delicious) mini dessert yesterday afternoon, while on a walk, and was very impressed. It's a cosy place, traditionally furnished, with very friendly staff and prompt service. I sat in the beer garden, which is a bit basic in the winter, but I can see from photos that it would be very nice in the summer, when coverings are removed and plants put out. I'd never been in here before, but would definitely come again - maybe even to stay for a short break.

Excellent food.Excellent service from the waitress and the manager who helped with the choice of wine.Not the cheapest but if you want fish and chips there are plenty of chippys in morecambe.Worth the money in my opinion.I don't go too often because you can have too much of a good thing and it's not as enjoyable.

Fantastic village pub. Felt we were really lucky to get in here without a reservation, given how popular the place early is (rightly so).Lovely choice of home cooked food and choice of drinks, service was excellent and staff were friendly.Sat outside in the covered terrace area ( this was September) and enjoyed a lovely meal.Will definitely come back when next in the area.Brisk walk to Morecambe afterwards to walk off the food! 😎

Had a lovely nights stay, and would definitely stay again. A really cosy atmosphere, really friendly staff, and lovely food, esp the sausage at breakfast, as I am really fussy about them. The evening meal was lovely as well, along with well kept cask ales. Will definitely stay again. Our room was spotless and stylish, with fresh milk for Tea & Coffee. Only thing I would ask, is a lighter menu at lunch time.

My wife and I stayed here for one night in January 2021 and we couldn't have been happier. Spacious room (Room 1) with accessible bathroom and a lovely evening meal and breakfast. Every member of staff that we dealt with was courteous and friendly and I would have no reservations in recommending The Royal to an prospective visitors.

We often walk from Morecambe up to Heysham for a drink and then back, they've got a good set up here. Some staff are quite rude, others are lovely. It can get quite busy in nice weather but lots of space outside. Overall, 4 stars.

We had Christmas lunch. The food was excellent the staff your helpful service was at the right pace. Lots of room between each table with log fires everything you would want to celebrate a special memory Thank you to the management team and the staff you did yourselves proud.
