First time visit for us and we loved the place .old mixed with new character decor and very well presented tables for our meal. The staff were really pleasant and timed their service really well giving time for choices to be made.It was a good casual atmosphere but the food was top class with great presentation, flavors, fresh and not overcooked but cooked well. I do however like my triple cooked chips done in duck or goose fat. It’s a new favorite of ours and a little gem we didn’t know was there. We will be back.Well done to the team.

The Wagon & Horses is one of the best establishments in Lancaster. I don't go regularly, but have been a many times over the years. When you walk in, it's immaculate & extremely cosy & welcoming. The soft furnishings are well thought out, the dining furniture is of high quality. The team are fabulous, well trained, attentive & professional, can't do enough for you & enjoy being there.Great selection of well kept beers & a delicious array of wines. The food is different. Not your average stuff, but a small menu, which I like as it shows care & thought. High quality & tasty & beautifully presented. My only one criticism or observation; I had the venison, which is a pricy choice, served with creamed potatoes, celeriac & a scrumptious gravy/sauce. Come on guys, chuck a few greens in a dish? I do find it frustrating when you have to pay extra for a balanced meal!See you soonish!L & S

We stayed at the Wagon and Horses on a journey up to Scotland just because it was convenient and what a wonderful suprise. The room was spotless and all the fixtures and fittings were of a high quality. We had an evening meal at the Wagon and Horses as the weather was awful and it was another great suprise wonderful tasty food excellently presented and breakfast in the morning was also of the highest quality. Highly recommended a great find in a great position by the river.

The duck that was serve was inedible. The staff dealt with our complaint satisfactorily and did not charge and offered my wife another meal and drink, which we declined to accept. The omelette at breakfast was good. The service throughout was good as was the accommodation and the bar area.

Nice setting on quayside. Nice ambience. Sunday lunches pretty much all round. Choice of 2 roast meats. I had pork fillet from menu. Nicely cooked, well presented. Good service at tables. Bought out our provided birthday cake to table for us, candles lit. Range of ales. Bought bread rolls & butter out, carafes of water.

Style over substance springs to mind!Had the pan fried chicken which consisted of a chicken breast, a white carrot, half a beetroot and three tiny hard boiled potatoes! Oh and some dish water sauce!! Terrible, Tasteless and overpriced!!!Awful menu too!

The Wagon & Horses was a great place to stay for a couple of nights, visiting my family in Lancaster. The rooms are comfortable, quiet and well equipped and the staff helpful and friendly. I was travelling solo and felt safe and relaxed. I would thoroughly recommend this pub for anyone looking for a low key, excellent value place to enjoy Lancaster from. The breakfast was great too! A lovely spot.
