The maps didn't accurately show where the restaurant was, as it is located behind the building and the entrance is from the alleyway next to the building. It was a quiet evening, and I was one of the less than 10 customers that night. I ordered a scouse, and it didn't disappoint, although I'd wish it contained a bit more meat in it. The staff was brilliant, very friendly and welcoming. The place was beautifully decorated and the ambiance was just perfect.

This is such a lovely friendly place, the food is amazing, so tasty and cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly, we were served by Bart and he was super friendly, lovely smiley guy, couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely be back, highly recommended 👌

Never one to write a bad review, me. So I'm changing this to 4 stars instead 🙂. Great boozer still, but not impressed by the recent food we were served. I'd defo go there again for drinks though 👍🏻

A little hidden gem by St Nics Church....cosy place, excellent food and friendly staff.....worth a visit- said to be one of the oldest pubs in the country..... check it out, outside summer seating too.

We wanted a traditional scouse for our first time trying this traditional Liverpool dish. We had been referred to some other restaurants that were a bit far from our hotel, and due to our work schedule we needed something closer. A Google search found Ma Boyle’s nearby and we rushed over. Let us say that we are exceedingly happy with our choice! The scouse was beyond delicious, so flavorful, the meat just melted on the fork it was so well cooked. The chips were extraordinarily delicious. They’re a little darker than what we’ve ever seen, and wondered if they were over cooked. But that was absolutely not the case! They were absolute perfection. I don’t know what they do to make them a little darker color, but do not worry when they deliver to you that delicious plate full of food if the chips are dark. They are not overcooked - they are perfection and will melt in your mouth. I’m so happy we found this wonderful restaurant and we recommend it highly for both the food and the wonderful pub ambience as well as the wonderfully kind and welcoming serving staff.

There is a very vibrant atmosphere here, but if you’re planning a party, keep in mind the music can be barely a background company because of the neighbourhood. Ordered a burger that was quite dry. Could have been because the kitchen was allegedly closed when I went to ask one of the waitresses for food, and magically open 20 minutes later when one of the organisers of our over 30 people party table went to ask.

Had heard very good things about the roasts here (and seen some amazing pictures). The reality was a beef joint that was mostly fat, actually swimming in gravy, and no roast potatoes to be found. Not a single one. Wonder if the regular chef was off or something. The rest of the food was decent, but way too much gravy. Will give it another go at some point as the staff were dead nice, and the place itself had a lovely atmosphere, but as of now can't recommend the roasts when there's so much better ones in town.

My husband and I had a lovely lunch here this afternoon. Food was amazing and the two boys serving couldn’t have done enough for us. It’s our second time here and certainly won’t be the last. Recommend the Scouse and chicken burger and the french Martini was amazing xxx
